We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

AustraliaI wasn't expecting to access our room through his house. Top of Town has a shared toilet and bathroom for the guest wing, which appeared to have three bedrooms in total. I don't like to share bathroom facilities with strangers. (Our house has two B&B rooms, each with an ensuite and outside doors so there is no need for guests to feel awkward about being in someone else's space). I felt the advertisement didn't reflect the circumstance, unless I miss-read it? It wasn't a problem on this trip as we literally got in late and left early. We just needed a place to sleep.
Michael was lovely. He has a beautiful house and it was very clean. The bed was super comfy. The area is pretty and quiet.

Unfortunately I didn’t realise that private vehicle was the best option to access the property. My fault entirely! But the hosts were aware of my situation and went completely out of their way to assist me with transport! I’m very grateful to them for looking out for me!

AustraliaThe owner who meet us when we arrived wasn’t friendly so was a bad first impression, then the bed sheets seemed used and they didn’t expect us there even with the previous reservation and luckily they had a room available.
Beautiful place and the owner that we meet the next day was lovely.

AustraliaWe arrived and used check in instructions to locate a key to a private house. The owner rang to see if we gained access and told us he was not returning that night. Later another family of 4 plus dog arrived knocking on the door. They had no access instructions or key. We were not told others were arriving and felt uncomfortable granting access without authorisation and tried to ring the owner without success. As we and the family were both intending to eat out this would either mean sharing our key or leaving the house unlocked. The owner later called me and asked who the other guests were. I told him we didn’t know and asked why he didn’t know, and told him we were unhappy with this arrangement. We also felt a total lack of security with no host, 4 bedrooms without locks, sharing with strangers and one bathroom and toilet (without locks) He then started shouting and became abusive screaming at us on the phone to “get out now”, which we did. We were at the house for less than 2hours, paid $240 and have been refused a refund - extremely poor service
