Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe bathrooms could use a bit more attention by the cleaning staff (as well as from travellers that use them).
The private double room was priced fairly and was very comfortable.

EstoniaCould have been cleaner. The room was maybe too basic, no place to charge my phone near my bed.
Location was amazing! I was a heavy rain day and from Sydney Airport to the hostel, not once I needed to come out of a roof! Metro station is literally in the same building. Also cheapest option I could find in Sydney.

United KingdomThe people in my dorm room snored and weren’t the most sociable (not much the hostel can do about that I guess).
I’ve stayed in lots of hostels but this was definitely the cleanest one. It has a small door for the entrance but it’s easy to find and the staff were brilliant and always helpful! For the price I was pleasantly surprised at the good quality of the place. Will definitely book again if I’m in the area!

United KingdomBeing so close to the centre the area can get a bit busy
The location was incredible. Close to the centre of the city and close to transport links. I've stayed in a few hostels and not a lot do free breakfast - this was a huge bonus. The staff was nice. Will definitely come back when I come back to Sydney after my travels.

United KingdomTo start with the hostel is hard to find, more of a doorway for homeless people than a friendly inviting hostel entrance. When we arrived we wanted to ask a staff member if it would be okay to leave our bags somewhere before our check in time. We waited at the desk for a considerable amount of time and looked around the communal area down stairs but saw no one. In the end we chose to just leave our bags in a corner where it appeared some people had done the same. At this point I will add that to get into the hostel you enter an unlocked door that is open to the public and walk downstairs to the reception desk and communal seating areas. Anyone can access this space and as mentioned already, there is no staff downstairs at all times. When we went back at check in time we had to wait again for a member of staff to finally show up. When we entered our 4 bed room that consisted of two sets of bunk beds and barely enough walking space to manoeuvre yourself and your bag we found it extremely hot, there is no air con or fan which would be fine if the window opened but it was sealed shut so there was no ventilation or fresh air. With 3 of us sleeping in this room it made it really stuffy and every morning we all woke up sniffly. The bathrooms are unisex and they are not sign posted so it’s a game of opening random doors to find a toilet. The communal kitchen is up on the 3rd floor and it’s it extremely small with 2 tables to sit at. There’s 2 small fridges which are crammed and just no space to prepare food or cook, for a hostel of that size it’s ridiculous. The bedrooms themselves were dirty, there was lots of dust and hair on the bunk bed me and my partner had. I wiped it all down with anti bacterial wipes. There are no laundry facilities and even if you hand wash clothes there’s no where to dry them, hanging them in the room is pointless as they are so stuffy so clothes wouldn’t dry and just made the room feel damp.
