Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaEverything was good.
It’s very clean and well looked after compared to a lot of other hostels. Their seemed to be a lot being added as well which looked exciting. I wish I could’ve stayed longer and talked to people.

AustriaEverything about the hostel was pretty good. , comfy beds, pretty clean showers for the fact that it's a hostel. And the hangout area was great for meeting new people. Staff was lovely, especially Lara and Emily! So helpful and always in for a great chat.

United KingdomThe rooms were quite dark, and I really struggled with the placement of the locker within the confines of my bed space above the bed (came away with a pretty bruised left knee from rolling over and hitting it frequently in the night!). Could have done with some more kitchen fridge space.
The beds were super comfy, and I was very grateful for the privacy curtain and amount of plugs. The bathroom and kitchen were sufficiently spacious and very clean and everyone was lovely. The location was perfect and really well connected.

AustraliaThere wasn’t a lot to do within the hostel such as a pool table or ping pong or even movies at night
The bunks were well fitted out with a lockable cabinet, personal light and privacy curtain

AustraliaDuring my stay in Portland, OR USA there was an incredible hostile that had beautiful wooden bunks, shared space/bathrooms. One of the things that made them so incredible was their automation and regulated rules. At X time, the lights would automatically dim then turn off (maybe around 10-11pm). This was done in order to promote a healthy "bed time" for all people in the shared space. I have to admit, this aspect would have made my experience and I'm sure many others more comfortable. We have a young couple that would be drunkenly noisy for several days in a row with the lights on around 11pm. Another small suggestion - Recommend that people apply FRAGRANCES within the restroom. People applying fragrances in a relatively small shared common space at 11pm before they go out for the night disturbs the entire smell of the room for about 30min. Makes it difficult to sleep or relax, in my opinion that is.
Location and Value are def. the main selling point in my eyes. Shared bathrooms/showers are tough thing to manage from the business's point of view. With this in mind, I think they have done a good job at keeping it decent. The rooms, beds, and storage are fine. The reception was good, the staff was pleasant.

TaiwanThe fridge is too crowded. I can't even put my lunch box in. Also, the public area in my room is full of stuff. And, I don't like the storage box, when I rolled over, I have kicked it several times.
The location is great. I can go around Melbourne easily. The staff are friendly. I also like the public working space. And, the bathroom is clean and comfortable.

New ZealandKitchen and shared areas are a bit too tight for the amount of rooms and are often extremely busy and loud. Shared rooms are a bit too expensive.
The beds in shared rooms are really private with nice curtains, own plug and light and storage that can be locked. More storage is also offered under the bed. The bathrooms are clean and comfortable too. The kitchen is well equiped with space to eat and an area specifically dedicated to work. There are also "meeting pods" in that area which are a really nice idea. The location is also great, right in front of the metro station and close to all the shops and cafes

EthiopiaI saw a few mice in the kitchen and the living area which is connected. I feel like it’s an infestation. Hopefully the establishment is doing something to take care of this issue. Even though there is still mice I still find the common areas to be clean… I, myself do not cook but I keep a few things in the fridge and for the facility I personally believe that two big fridges is not nearly enough at all as there are many people stocking up multiple bags with food in there.
The mattress is super comfortable. The location is convenient. Everything is clean. The staff always tries to accommodate you in what you need. Rachel has been a big help since I have arrived here (already one month); she has been very kind and accommodating. She never hesitated to help me in any requested I had, which I truly appreciate:). The cleaning staff makes sure to leave the bathroom and all the common areas super super clean. If you extend your stay and you want your sheets to be changed, the staff at the reception helps you with that. Literally every single staff is amazingly friendly and helpful.

AustraliaI didn’t realise there was no TV for the kids, nor a fridge for keeping our drinks cool, or for milk for cuppa (and of course no kettle as a communal kitchen). This isn’t really family friendly, as with a sleeping child, I couldn’t leave the room to go to a communal kitchen and get a cuppa, nor could I go to room with tv.
Location top notch as we needed the tram to John Cain Arena and it was literally just outside the hotel! Room was spacious and clean.

I have loved staying at Selina CBD whilst l work in the city and look for a more permanent home. The team are so friendly and very helpful (shout out to Rachel and Annica for being absolute gems)! The rooms are kept clean and are very safe. Communal areas are perfect for relaxing, working or FaceTiming family/friends. Kitchen has everything you could need!
