How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

I was quoted $138 for the room initially then when I added a third person I noticed I had been charged $150 plus the additional $30 for the third person

The bed was slightly uncomfortable.

Only negative would be the parking at the hotel very limited .
Breakfast provisions (cereals, coffee and toast were provided in the room. Room was large clean and very comfortable . Meals in the hotel were great. All staff were very friendly and helpful Hotel is with easy walking distance to everything in Strath would recommend this hotel to anyone

Only having a staircase to the room - it was awkward to take my suitcase up. There weren't any tissues in the too. A little confusion re room rate when I rang the property to see if it was cheaper to book with the hotel direct. I ended up paying $15 more than I needed to.
Very comfortable room, air conditioning worked well (and we stayed on a very cold night), breakfast provisions were left in the room, undercover carparking near the room, friendly and helpful staff, real wood fire in the dining room, bistro menu had traditional pub and slightly more upmarket options, all the food was delicious, convenient to all areas of Strathalbyn, useful tourism information brochures.

Nothing but it could be a 10/10 if they offered hot breakfast. The continental brekky was good enough and there are a lot of great cafes nearby.
The pillows and mattress were SO COMFY. On par with 5-star hotel beds. The spa was great of course and the french press coffee was a nice touch. It’s also very central in Strath, surrounded by cafes and right near the local Woolies.

Vegemite wasn't provided as an option with breakfast provisions. I have never known anywhere in Australia to not provide vegemite. However, it was supplied after I asked for it. I think they could also do better than International Roast coffee and Lipton tea bags. Beds were slightly hard. Off street parking is very limited. Could make a big difference just with minor improvements.
Nice quiet location. Very friendly staff. Nice to have the option of breakfast included.

Shower pressure was terrible. Breakfast was only toast and cereal. Wasn't told there would be a deposit. Access to check in was confusing, no parking available.

Surprised to find the handbasin had a noticeable crack (looked old) and had a couple of hairs on it when we arrived. The room lighting was quite patchy, with one downlight not working and no bedside lights or other freestanding lamps, which was a bit limiting.
Location, parking, meals, room size, bedding, towels etc all fine..Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Accommodation was on the first floor with no elevator. Needed to haul two heavy suitcases up the flight of stairs, probably unsuitable for the elderly or people with strength issues. On site parking was limited.
A bit old worldly, but cozy. Rooms were large but starting to border on needing a refurb.

While the shower over the spa bath was fine for me. a walk-in type would have been better for my wife who could not easily step over the edge of the bath without help and even then a bit risky. (I could have seen reception so only have ourselves to blame and we did manage) - just saying!
Breakfast was great and unexpected but very much needed. The location was perfect .
