Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaService desk randomly “upgraded” my rooms at check-in they weren’t the rooms I booked I had to come back down and ask to be checked-in to the rooms I booked which took 30 min of waiting in the lobby Finally got to my room and they gave me a wheelchair- accessible room because they didn’t have anything els . Very disappointed in the W I thought my experience would be better than that

AustraliaHotel doesn't really have any atmosphere. The lobby is terrible, we walked in to be met with 3 waiting lines. Aside from the location it’s not really up to the standard of other hotels at this price point. The pool wasn't warm enough for Sydney's Autumn/Winter at 24 degrees and the area was a little messy. Room was nice with a great view of darling harbour. It was OK without being great... which isn't really good enough for a 5 star hotel.
The location can’t be beat. Central to everything.

New ZealandThese are not criticisms but just our opinions some people might like the following. The lighting in the rooms was not great and was a little dull. The light switch choices were not well thought out as they are black and touchpad so to turn on at night in low light is hard to find the right light to turn on without opening curtains or turning the wrong lights on by accident. The bathroom showers take a bit to get used to and the bath mixer is a thermstatic mixer which is great but its a confusing design The apartment kitchen wasn't fully kitted out missing basic utensils ie chopping board. Sliding Glass mirror doors into bathroom took a bit to not walk into. The apartment wasn't as clean as the first room and the staff coming partly through our stay to check expiry dates on minibar items was not very professional. Bar menu food was not a great choice when you are just having a couple of drinks and needing a nibble and super pricey. Maybe a better explanation of how to use the modern products. I like technology but it needs to be practicable.
We had the opportunity to stay in 2 different rooms over our stay. The first room was a hotel room on the 20th floor and had a great view of the city. We mistakenly booked the twin room which was fine for the 2 nights. Bed was comfortable. TV was easy to use and whilst we didn't use the TV streaming capabilities its nice to see the hotel offering this. Was modern and clean in the first room. The second room we stayed in was a 1 bedroom apartment on the 12th floor and the same side of the building. View was ok but looked at a sterile building next to the motorway. The bed was a king and again was very comfortable. Nice having the kitchen to use for a couple of days since we didn't want to eat out. The pool was stunning on the top floor looking over Darling Harbour. Watching the fireworks from the bar on a Saturday night was a novelty. Breakfast was fantastic the choice was abundant and delicious. Great bottled fruit juice too.

AustraliaFor such a beautiful hotel, the service was poor. I know its new, but thats not an excuse. Rang up for a different pillow and was told I would have one in 5min. 10min later, called up again and they said that someone would either drop a pillow off or call me in 5min if they don't have one. 15min later, i called again and was told they didn;t have one. Checkin took 10min.
Beautiful hotel in a cracking location.

AustraliaBed was uncomfortably firm. While I understand that mattress softness or firmness is a very personal preference, most leading hotels offer something more middle of the range to cater to both preferences.
Amazing design and furnishings, great facilities and idea location right on darling harbour. Staff offered excellent service and were warm and friendly.

AustraliaRooftop pool closes extremely early at 6pm, would love to see it be extended till 10pm at least. Checkin line was long and a little chaotic at times.
Have been waiting for the new W hotel to open! Overall it was a good stay, a little on the pricier side for a Sydney stay-cation but was a splurge. If you are arriving on a Saturday/ weekend, be prepared for long queues to check-in, I was baffled at the amount of people lining up to checkin, while they did give us welcome drinks on arrival it was the busiest hotel checkin I've been to in years. The room was gorgeous and the bath tub and seperate shower was a nice touch. It would have been nice if they had a hot spa/ sauna especially being a new hotel. The main rooftop pool is only open till 6pm which is quite unusual for a hotel of its standard. I would expect a 10pm closure at least. Staff were nice but you could tell that they were still finding their footing being a new hotel so there was no above and beyond perks or service. The hotel breakfast was lovely and a great vibe - especially loved the cute little smoothie bottles and egg service. Highly recommend for a special hotel stay in Sydney!

AustraliaThere is a 200 dollar bond which is a joke and they don’t tell you tell you pay for the room. The 29/30 bar was closed on a Saturday and they make you line up as if want to sit and dine for dinner near a pool. It’s a waste of time using the hotel facilities.
Room was clean

AustraliaLimited parking. Hotel parking was booked out so we had to park at nearby parking station and walk with luggage. Swimming pool on top level very small. There were heaps of kids jumping around so not enjoyable for the small size. Tiles in swimming area VERY SLIPPERY. Witnessed several people slip over. Not enough seating. No shopping in the area which was disappointing. Had to walk to Westfield.
The bed was comfy. Our room had a great view of Darling Harbour. The bar area was great. Great outlook to Darling harbour. Excellent location in Darling Harbour. Walking distance to heaps of restaurants.
