How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Kitchen needs more crockery, cutlery, platters, salad bowls, plastic storage containers.
Location on Esplanade very convenient. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Lovely pool. Staff very friendly and helpful. Easy, off road car park.

Noisy fan in bedroom and aircon not to go below 24 degrees
Good location, nice view, amenities were good too (washer, dryer, dishwasher) having optional bedside lamps was good.

It was a great place for our group to enjoy Cairns before we went to The Cape. A clean spacious apartment, well positioned and a homily feel was great to return to after our trip north. Hope to return one day and will recommend to friends.

Musty stale smell on entering and when left closed up - smokers perhaps? or concerned about mould. Owners did try to remedy with spray to eliminate odour and later left a msg on phone for alternative accommodation. Apartment looked to have been painted internally but door shutters also needed painting

Pool is cold and spa didn't work.
Located away from main hub of esplanade, but still in walking distance of some things. Needed car for major attractions. Beds super comfy, nice and quiet. Some washing powder for washing machine provided and also cleaning stuff for kitchen, which was super useful.

Just the wifi, couldn't connect, but we didn't worry about it as we were too busy doing stuff!
Loved the location as it was close to the walking trail along the shoreline, and not right in the middle of Cairns (but within walking distance). The apartment itself was clean and had a lovely balcony looking out to the sea. It was only 3 levels high and relatively small compared to a lot of other apartments and hotels there, so easy to access our apartment! A nice swimming pool. Great staff. We would stay there again for sure!

Was not as advertised on Booking.com. There was no “additional toilet “ as advertised, there was no “bath” as advertised and there was no “satellite tv” as advertised. If these features are advertised, then you expect them at the property otherwise it’s false advertising

us older ladies climbing the many stairs was abit hard with the luggage Also the unit next door the smoko came over on to our balcony had to close doors each time they were on their balcony smoking Yhought their mwas a no smoking policy

Lovely views out over the water - easy parking, clean/tidy property with everything we needed in the apartment. Good hot water and wifi. Walking distance to cafes/restaurants although a little way from the main esplanade area

Only given 1 set of towels for a 6 night stay and not enough toilet paper. Pillows were very uncomfortable. And the old thin bedding didn’t feel clean.

Nice location and well kept grounds. Opposite the sea front. Appreciated the late check out before my flight. Very clean with everything you needed in the apartment including a washing machine and dryer.

Not having a car made the walk into town several times a day a little taxing towards end of trip but not terrible.

The garden outside apartment 3 was rather overgrown and could of done with a bit of a tidy up.
