Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

New ZealandThe hotel doesnt have a normal reception, and its done via the bar. which is not open until 10am, so if you arrive before that, you a bit stuck with you bags etc. No hotel lift (so u have to carry your suitcase, bag up two flights of steep stairs.
Great location, (however this does get a bit loud at night over the weekend, but this is a central city place, so to be expected) It has a bar under the rooms, so this is handy if you want a drink etc.

AustraliaNo after-hours service and no contract from the hotel. Arrived after hours, and even though we notified them of our time of arrival. The hotel was all locked up, and we did not have a phone call as to how to get our key to get in. It was only luck that a staff member saw us on the cameras at the front door. She then came down to help us. Other than that, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable.

Excellent location with great food etc. close by. Good value bar meals downstairs and cheap happy hour drinks! Quiet despite being a pub. Good access to public transport. Terrific staff. Nice older style inner city pub.

New ZealandI would like the floors to be vacuumed thoroughly under the bed and in the rooms. I did not feel that the room cleanliness was of high standard. The ceiling fan was of poor quality and did not spin at high speed. Meaning there was no cooler air available and people were resorting to leaving the room door open a crack to create air flow.
The staff were very helpful. They carried the suitcases up 3 flights of stairs as there are not lifts. Overall very basic but cheap and central and mostly enjoyable.

AustraliaDirty, smelly, hot, grotty. Budget doesn't have to be like this. Power cut out so I was showering in the dark, air con stopped working and I was more hot & sweaty afterwards and not feeling clean when I had to go out. The pub downstairs appears to have all its resources put in there - staff, air con etc. Read the other reviews - that hole in the ceiling that was meant to be temporary is still not fixed. The bathrooms were so nicely renovated but dirty - sanitary bin overflowing, unclean and the carpets everywhere were dirty with holes and damage everywhere. The sheets I slept in felt unclean and the doona cover was laid on the bed with the cover laid on top of it! Dust everywhere. Mirrors and lights that a simple wipe over would make a difference. There is no care or pride in what could be a lovely place. I would be embarrassed to take someone's money for this "experience".
The check-in team were lovely. The towels were clean.
