Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Arab EmiratesThe actual name of the hotel is Nizami Hotel by Shalimar. Please change the name on property listing as it is very confusing for the customers.
First of all, it was very difficult to find the hotel because the actual name is Nizami Hotel by Shalimar and on the contrary the listed name is Markaz Nizami Hotel. Now to the positives, you can not find a location better than this. Ultra budget-friendly compared to other hotels. There is no room service and no breakfast option. You have to be on your own. If you want to explore the city and need a room just to come back, shower and sleep then book it.

OmanDuring hotel check-in, The front desk manager named Renat, was really rude. When I tried to pay, he said the Visa machine couldn't handle my low charge, which seemed odd. I suggested paying for an extra night, and then he said the Visa machine would now work. But when I asked about the cost for two nights, he charged me double compared to the amount on booking.com. Showing him the booking.com price and mentioning my Genius Level 3 membership, he changed his tone from rude to polite. He even offered me a lower amount and he asked me politely to write a positive review. Disappointing enough, the lift is not working and so we have to use the stairs and I often found drunk people urinating on the stairs on the way to my room. When I reported this to Renat the front manager, he claimed they were outsiders, not hotel workers or customers.
The hotel wasn't as good as I hoped, but I decided to stay because of two amazing people. First one, there was the girl working at reception during evening shift. she was so helpful, One day, when I ordered food through the Wolt app, the delivery person didn't have change. The girl paid the remaining 2 manat for me even though i never asked. It wasn't a lot, but her kindness meant a lot. Second one, there was an old lady who cleaned the rooms, she went above and beyond. She helped me clean and iron my clothes and fixed my coffee kettle when it wasn't working. What impressed me the most was that she could speak both Arabic and English. Both of them made my stay better, and I'm grateful for their kindness.

EgyptThe owner and the staff are not friendly! When we arrived there was a woman (one of the staff) kept shouting on the reception …the owner and the receptionist didn’t even smiled when they met us They insisted on us to pay in dollars and told me that the machine to pay in credit is out of charge when I asked that I will pay by credit as I requested before arriving and we got a deal that I can pay by credit! Now it’s not available! When I told them that I will pay in Manat , they started to be angry and telling me that the check in is at 2 pm by the way ! We are not giving the room before it ! And it was okay but how they act was weird They also insisted to upgrade the room we reserved through booking..when we refused the owner laughed mockingly ! There was no room service even to take the garbage out of the room ! They didn’t have a system to show them the reservations through booking..everyone of the staff asked to see our reservation on our phones..and they asked to pay more than we have on booking! When I told them the price they surprised again and asked to see the booking again ! And that was weird that they didn’t even know they got a reservation and how much was it !
The location is amazing

United Arab EmiratesI did not enjoy my stay at the hotel, I booked a room for AZN 35, before arrival i had requested a balcony room and upon arrival the person at the reception desk recommended an upgraded room without balcony but with city view for AZN 60 per night (i paid 120 AZN for 2 nights) The amenities in the room were below average, shower head broken, window handle broken. It was 3 degrees and I had the most disturbed sleep with the window opening in the middle of the night. I am new to EU/Baku standard windows and the fact that the handle is broken doesnt help! To the owner, Please ensure amenities are fixed and in working condition before offering an upgraded room to a customer.

No window in the room, so obviously no chance to get fresh air. Unfriendly personal, which was resistant against any critics... ONE OF THE WORST HOTELS WE EVER SLEPT IN!
