Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe furniture in the room is old. One chair was broken and unusable, and the bed appeared to be rickety, although we slept on it OK.
Excellent breakfast.

United Arab EmiratesBreakfast could be improved to add more items.
Being a vegetarian there were limited options for breakfast. And given it was a set menu, no top up of any requested items were made. Having said that, the location, rooms and staff were very good and we enjoyed our stay at Old Town Sheki.

United KingdomThe breakfast might have had a wider choice of options, although it was well presented, it was a sparse choice of cooked products and beverages.
The room was lovely, with nice decoration, comfortable beds and good bathroom facilities. The location was close, despite an uphill walk, to all the main tourist sites and with a lovely view of the surrounding mountains. The staff were both friendly and helpful and the building very clean. finally, Sheki is well worth seeing with lots of historical character and scenic beauty.

United KingdomThe location of this hotel is amazing, so easy to get around the main sites of Sheki. The food in the restaurant was very good and they worked hard to make sure we had vegetarian options.

PolandI consider the Old Town Hotel one of the Shaki's attractions. It's one of the Silk Road caravanserais, tastefully adjusted to modern travellers' needs, The attention to detail in absolutely all aspects is incredible.

PolandA beautiful, phenomenal hotel. It has its own unfussy atmosphere. I don't understand the low rating on booking. Everything was of a high standard. Beautiful room with private bathroom. The whole hotel had amazing scenery inside. Plus free, free parking and a delicious breakfast. Highly recommended!

United StatesThe walls were a bit thin and we could hear our neighbors slightly.
The property is in one of the historic stone buildings a few minutes walk down the hill from the old Caranansary. The rooms were comfortable but on the small side. There is a central courtyard (but was mostly closed due to winter season). The staff were helpful. The restaurant was great for dinner and large for local standards for breakfast.

AzerbaijanThe room that we were staying was close to the club which had the big party the day we were there. Therefore volume of the music was a big interruption to sleep.
The location of the hotel is great, it was easily accessible to reach everywhere by walk. All the personnel and the guy in the reception were very friendly and quite helpful to find out local restaurants for the dinner. The stuff was regularly checking quality of the service. If you are looking for a budget friendly place to spend your holiday this hotel is highly recommended.

AzerbaijanThe breakfast was basic, and the guy serving during the breakfast was kinda rude (does not apply everyone) with his attitude and responses.
The space is cozy with the historic items and souvenirs designing the room and lobby. The rooms are so small as a capacity but pretty much finee taking into account the prices. Hotel is located in the middle of historic area - main landmark of Shaki.

PolandCharming hotel close to the main city attractions. There are a lovely patio and a nice restaurant with delicious food (reasonable prices). Breakfast was simple but tasty (eggs, sausage, cheese, olives, bread, vegetables). Room was cosy, clean and quiet (water, team and coffee, tv with plenty of turkish channels :), towels, shampon, shower gel, hairdryer). Staff are friendly even if not all of them speak fluently in english :) I recommend this place.

AustraliaThis hotel could easily be a 9 out of 10 if the staff and catering were better. Staff were disorganised and sometimes disinterested. One night had to wait very long time for dinner service (50 minutes) - had to chase waiters to take orders, only to see them in the kitchen eating their own food. Breakfast was also disappointing and again service was poor (food not ready at 8am, hot tea not available until requested etc). Restaurant dinner food was excellent when it came, it is just the poor service from staff that was the problem. This is still a great place to stay and i hope they can improve their customer service to realise the high potential this accomodation has. Also bathroom had pungent sewer smell from plumbing. This is common in Azeri regional hotels but in our room it was unpleasantly strong smell.
Authentic and traditional style stone building well decorated with Azeri furnishings. Lovely feel to the hotel. Rooms were large and beds comfortable. Good location in the old town area but still easy walk to other parts of the city. Good secure parking available. Also has 2 Peacocks roaming around outside dining area - nice touch.
