Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe inn is as elegant and beautiful as an Oriental fairytale, but what impressed me the most is the service. The dignified manner, the politeness and the hospitality of the staff who treat you as a dear guest in their country is something I have not experienced for years. They are there for you 24 hours. The location turned out perfect. From my room (#8, second floor, spotless, two French windows, electric fireplace, large well-designed shower) I could see the Maiden tower and the Caspian on the horizon (all I dreamed about). The view from the restaurant (open 24 hours) - on the terrace on top - is breathtaking. At breakfast (delicious, made to order) you watch the rooftops of the city slowly waking up and at night you are as if soaring over the city lights of the Baku Bay. The atmosphere was relaxing and quiet, with some live music playing. After a day of walking, I came up just for a pot of local tea and dessert and it was amazing. I would like to thank all the staff for this wonderful experience. I would definitely come back. Some possibly useful details. The hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport. If you install the Bolt app, it's 7 manat. I just took a taxi for 30 manat (beautiful drive). A 7 minute walk takes you down to the water - to the Baku boulevard. Nizami street with busy night life and restaurants is 5 minutes away. The location is quiet on one hand, but on the other hand it's not dark or remote to be scary at night. The entrance is well lit and opens to a square with a historic monument. It felt really safe.

The hotel has a superb location. It is located in the Old City, 1 minute from the Maiden Tower, and within a short walking distance to many of Baku's famous landmarks and historical sites. The Caspian Sea is also just a few minutes from the hotel. The terrace on the top floor provides a relaxing view of the Maiden Tower and the sea. The room is tastefully decorated, very classy and atmospheric. However, the real gem of the hotel is the staff. I am very appreciative of Elnaz, Orhan and Firaddin for their exceptional help and support. They made me feel welcome and very comfortable in the hotel and the city.

United States-Could use more electrical outlets in the room for recharging smartphones and related items. -Being an old historical building, there is no elevator. The staff graciously brings your luggage to the room for example, but the Breakfast Room is on the 3rd floor (views are stunning!) -There is no TV channel apparently in English. There may have been, but all the words on the menu were in Russian (despite the TV language set to English).
-Overall, this is a stunning five star hotel in an incredible central location in Old Town. It overlooks the nearby Maidens Tower, one of the main tourist attractions of Baku. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel, otherwise, this review would be 10 pages long. -The rooms are befitting of the hotels name - Sultan Inn. The ceilings are gloriously high. The window treatments are a rich brown purple with deluxe tie-backs with gold leaf wooden valences. All the doors are 9-10’ high guy u. My room had wooden floors and also a fireplace. The bedroom area is on a slightly raised area (for a little elegance). The ceiling had neat architectural features. -The General Manager is very personable and helpful. I had visa issues getting into the country. The hotel was very patient while I worked out the situation (was in Georgia at the time). -The views from the 3rd floor Breakfast Room are stunning! Breakfast was delicious and included cooked-to-order eggs. The prepared plate of cold items was nothing less than gourmet (cheeses, both hot and cold meats, butter, candied fruits, and various spreads to accompany the big basket of fresh baked goods). -The WiFi worked good. -The water pressure was great with plenty of hot water. -There was daily maid service - a rarity in today’s post Covid world. -The hotel is in a very safe area (even to walk around late at night). -The hotel is extremely easy to find since it’s literally right next to one of the most visited and tallest sites in the Old City, Maidens Tower. After a long day of touring, getting back to your hotel is extremely important! -There are great restaurants and shops only a 2-3 minute walk away.

NorwayIf you rent a car, note that it is possible to find parking in the old town and it's cheap. However, finding it might be a challenge due to heavy traffic and congestion in the streets. The parking garage the hotel recommends was always full, with ques of cars out in the street. Brush up on your parallel parking skills, and brave the old town - or take a cap.
The hotel is in the old town, and within walking distance to all the amenities you need. You get a great view of the Maiden Tower, and just outside, the Flame Towers is seen. Just a short walk to the sea, and to the Carpet Museum.

SwitzerlandGreat place. Room was spacious, well-equipped and quiet (the streets around are practically pedestrian). The breakfast is simply fantastic, in variety, in quality and in the setting - the hotel easily has the best terrace in Baku's Old City. I'd especially mention the personnel - welcoming, attentive, totally helpful and delicate.
