The closest supermarket was a good 15 minute walk from the property and it didn’t open until 8.00AM, which was a bit of a wait for me as I’m an early bird and jet lagged in top of that. The property is in a residential area with no town centre with cafes or restaurants nearby.

This is such a fascinating place to stay. You’ve got this huge flat with a lovely veranda with chickens and, occasionally, monkeys outside. I liked the attention detail - lots of ice cubes in the freezer, washing powder for the washing machine, the tumble dryer working perfectly - as these often make the difference between a so-so and a really good stay. However, it is the landlord, Earl Maynard, that makes this place so memorable! I’ve actually never heard of him, but he told me some great stories from his life and he was super helpful. Finally, the access to the local beach and close proximity to the airport make this an excellent choice for a layover between flights.

The facility accommodations were adequate for the affordable price of our 4-day stay. However, the apartments can certainly use some updating to give it a more refreshing look and feel.

Earl & Sydney Maynard, are two wonderful, kind people. They are helpful and will go out of their way to make accommodations for their guests. Which is one of the things we love most of all about our stay at Ocean Ridge Resort. The view from the main living area balcony, was simply beautiful of the ocean and the sea breeze was perfect!

Remote area with no restaurants in walking distance. We had no water in the afternoon and evening because the water main was being worked on. Not Earl’s fault, but still inconvenient.

The view from the balcony is beautiful. A spectacular 2-mile long beach with big waves and no people is about a 5 minute walk from the apartment. There’s a little grocery store 15 minutes away (walking). Earl is very friendly and his apartment is clean and comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen and AC (it worked well) in one of the bedrooms. He even helped us find a taxi to take us to the airport at 3:00 AM.

Sydney and Earl were very pleasant and accommodating. It was nice to hear about Earl’s previous life as an actor and film producer; I even got his book autographed ☺️. The area was peaceful, breezy and very close to the beach. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your property!

The location was a bit isolated, and the grocery was a 20-minute walk away. The beach is on the windward side of the island, so the waves were very rough (no swimming was possible). Note to future visitors: the other side of the road (now thrilling with goats, monkeys and free-range chickens) is under heavy development.

Earl was a congenial fellow. He entertained us greatly with the stories of his interesting life. He supplied us with whatever we needed and provided whatever directions were needed. The apartment was spacious for the two of us - two bedrooms and two bathrooms - and very much worth the price. Laundry was in the apartment itself. The view of the beach from the porch (upstairs) was gorgeous, and the porch itself was very comfortable. The beach was close (5-minute walk) and the coral sand was lovely. We also met some very friendly neighbours.

The apartment is quiet, nice and spacious you can clean and store your gear. Our hosts were very kind and helped with advice about the surrounding . The view from the balcony is marvelous and you can check the wind while having breakfast. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the spot with all the equipment. Ask Simon for kitesurfing lessons and enjoy the mostly empty long beach. If you want to meet the crowds take a ZR to silver rock.

The door to the balcony does not have a screen and the property is close to the sea so mosquitoes posed a bit of a problem. If you are someone prone to insect bites or may have sensitive skin you might want to stock up on the repellant and keep the balcony door closed.

I loved the location. There’s a really nice view. The apartment is much bigger than I expected and the hosts were extremely nice and friendly. Some of the furnishings are a bit dated but it did add to the cozy vibe of the room. All in all a great stay, and worth it for the price. Would definitely go back!
