Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe television. It is way to small and old.
Great location. Food is excellent. The rooms need to be updated.

NetherlandsThe room is facing the sea on one side, but the street on the other side, where on many nights the music is simply (too) loud. Fortunately the bedroom is facing the seaside, although noise still traveled via the bathroom, which has wooden shutters towards the streetside. Suggestion for the hotel is to create more noise insulation by replacing the bathroom shutters with opague (double) glass.
The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful, and did everything to help make my stay even more pleasant. Excellent views from the balcony of my Ocean Front One Bedroom Suite on the third floor. The location of the hotel in Saint Lawrence Gap is great, a short walking distance to the beautiful Worthing Beach and Dover Beach, which I found much more pleasant than the touristy and run-down Carlisle Bay.

CanadaWe wanted to be in St. Lawrence Gap. You could walk out the door and choose a different restaurant every night. For that reason, we never ventured to another area to eat. The area is easily walkable and we felt safe due to the sheer number of people. However, it is home to many nightclubs, and they do blast music till 3am most nights of the week. We could hear the music from our room, but it did not interfere with our sleep. This may depend on the location of your room though. Can't say for sure.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Rostrevor. We booked a one bedroom island view room and were on the 5th floor. Island view is not ocean view. Our kitchen window faced inland to the island, our balcony faced west. Because we were on the 5th floor, we could see the ocean from the side, and the sunsets, although we didn't take pictures because the top of the hotel next to us was in the way. The point is, if you want ocean view, book accordingly. The one bedroom suite is very spacious with a large balcony that had two separate tables on it. The living room had a pull out couch and two chairs, although we never used the pullout, so can't comment on comfort level. The bedroom is huge with plenty of room to store luggage. King bed was very comfortable, and bedding and towels were of a good quality. You can access balcony from both rooms. Bathroom was large too, shower only in this unit, which was all we wanted. We wanted the kitchen for breakfasts and lunches only. It had a two burner gas cook top, microwave, large fridge and was outfitted for four people. There are two convenience stores within a block of the hotel, and full grocery stores in Worthing, which was a 15 minute walk. Housekeeping was very good, the entire hotel was well looked after. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. There are washers and dryers available for a very nominal fee, and they also provide large beach towels for a nominal, refundable deposit. The pool is not huge, but big enough to paddle around in. The pool and deck overlook the ocean. The Rostrevor also has it's own sliver of beach, which we loved. We alternated between pool and sea. If you wanted a larger stretch of beach, you could walk 7 minutes to Dover Beach, or 15 minutes to Worthing. We just never bothered. There can be sargassum, depending on the wind direction, but many days there was none. We never had a problem getting sun loungers either.

United KingdomWe hadn't appreciated that St Lawrence Gap is quite a busy area. It can be noisy at night - often into the early hours of the morning. The dining options at the hotel were limited. Sometimes items were not available. It would have been great if the reception staff could have been proactive in helping us to plan our stay. Recommendations and explanations are always useful.
This is a comfortable basic hotel. The bedroom had all we needed including aircon and a balcony overlooking the ocean. Great to have some rudimentary cooking facilities (2 gas rings and a microwave). The hotel pool is just large enough. The gym is well equipped. Staff is pleasant and helpful. There was a rum punch evening with a band hosted by the hotel, which was a nice touch.

United StatesRoad and small casino across the street created some noise at night. Units had tile flrs and we could hear chairs scrapping upstairs. Beach area miniscule, but nice oceanside pool area
Right on the ocean, very clean, nice pool, with friendly staff and nice little restaurant with affordable prices. Not deluxe, but good value. Rooms not at all fancy, but spacious.

United KingdomThere was a constant loud noise at night near our bedroom. It seemed like construction noise. We were very tired and did not bother much our sleep. The included breakfast could be better. You basically need to chose one meal from a menu. No fruit included. With so much good local fruit I was a bit disappointed with not being able to eat those amazing mangoes, papayas, pineapples. The french toasts were not good, pancakes were an american mix. The omelette was good though. I had a bad experience with one employer. There is a sign saying that the swimming pool opens at 8am and closes at 8pm. There is a moveable sign saying that the swimming pool is closed (they put this up and down daily). One day, I was having breakfast and realized the sign was only putted down at 8:45. The next day, I was actually having some sun bath and wanted to use the pool. Was 9:30 and 3 other people had already used it. The sign was still up, one hour and half after the time, no one was there to help. I decided to go in, after 5minutes a rude man came to scald me because the pool was closed I should not be there. I asked him if the pool does not open at 8am, there is a sign saying it, he said nothing and left. I went to the reception and complaint. They were not aware the pool was opening so late. I hope this employer can have the training he needs to deal with people and also to do his job right.
Has a nice location near restaurants and bars. Has a nice night life. You can use the swimming pool and the private beach what is nice. In general the staff is nice and welcoming with a few exceptions. They have a complimentary nice Thursday night with live music for one hour and rum punch and a few starters. It was a nice touch.

CanadaThe room was noisy because of the disco across the road and very poorly fitted door. I would like to have tried the hotel bar but as it closes at 6pm (cocktail hour in my book) I never got the chance to. A few more sun beds would be nice, since I don’t like to get up at 5am when I am on holiday and that’s the only time there were any available.
The room had a lovely view of the ocean and the nice little beach. Bed was comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Dinner on the balcony every night!

BarbadosThis is my second time staying at this property, boy did it changed from 10 years ago, their standard has definitely dropped, the room was very dated, the servicing of the room was below par, no smiling faces from staff, in comparison to previous time...for the amount you paid per night I expected better service, all around it was a good stay, and it was mostly due to its location
It's location, is still number one, close proximity to everything you need, restaurants, bars, shops, public transport, entertainment and night life, different budget and preferences can be found at this location

United KingdomWe would have preferred to be on a higher floor rather than ground floor, but this did mean we had easy access to the terrace and pool area.
The location is great. So many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. Great atmosphere in St Lawrence Gap. We tried several restaurants and all were good. Very nice Rum bar opposite the hotel. Easy walking distance to Worthing and Dover beaches and close to the main coast road, so easy to use buses to get anywhere else. Nice bar in the hotel, with very friendly staff, especially Verna. Sunset happy hour rum and cokes were great. Swimming pool good size and great location, near the bar and great sea view. It was never very busy. Cute little beach . Easy to find sun beds. Room was quite spacious and very clean. Shower dated but good size. Good cooking facilities. Would definitely go back.

United KingdomThe area is quite busy, to get a table at the restaurants nearby reservations often needed however we were there at Feb half term. Other hotel guests were putting towels on the sunbeds early but we never had an issue finding a sun bed. Room and shower was a little dated but it’s not a 5*
Stunning sea view from room. We like the small sandy cove which gave access to the sea. Room spacious. Bed very comfortable and fridge was useful. We felt good value for money

United StatesNo hot (not even warm) water in shower which wasn't as bad as it sounds given the temps outside were always warm or hot. Toilet plumbing was tired and needed to "rest" for several minutes after each flush. Neither of these were a big deal compared to all the plusses.
Reasonably priced by American standards, with a top-notch location, gorgeous view of the ocean, french doors leading to spacious balcony overlooking ocean, ocean/beach easily accessible from room. Very fun location that was walkable to loads of restaurants/bars. Very comfortable bed and efficient AC.

United StatesThere was no air conditioning in the bathroom, with a window high above the shower into the hallway to let out steam, so the bathroom got hot. The restaurant was just ok, and meals we ate at all other restaurants were better. There is a very noisy night club across the street, and booming base kept us up at night (not the hotel's fault).
The room was nice, the pool area was nice, and there was a little private beach to enjoy. The view from the balcony was excellent. Most staff were very friendly and helpful. The value for the money was also excellent.
