Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe location is approx 20 min walk from more central area, but if you enjoy your steps then it’s great!

This hotel just opened and is a great mix. You have your own little studio with possibilities to cook your own food, and you have access to hotel service. (Breakfast, roomservice, fitness, laundry) It’s totally up to you what fits your needs.

BelgiumThe bins weren’t empty. There was dirt in the bathroom. Hair on the bed. No kitchen towel and no dishwashing liquid. The breakfast was poor.
Comfy beds, friendly staff.

United KingdomRoom smelt of smoke, was fairly small and lacked any design merit. Was also incredibly expensive given location and facilities.

FranceThe staff upon check in was rude and unprofessional. The double bed was just 2 single beds put together which was very uncomfortable to sleep in.
The morning staff ladies were genuinely kind and very friendly which has made the stay at least a little better.

GermanyI thought it was a shame that we slept on a fold-out couch. A nice big bed is a certain comfort. You couldn't open the windows because the street was too loud. The pillows were very uncomfortable. We were not offered breakfast, we only found out afterwards that there was one. Free parking would have been nice.
The staff was nice. There were plenty of soft towels and a good selection of toiletries. An iron is also available.

United KingdomThe demand a £50 deposit but unclear of the purpose as it is stated this is for breakfast or incidentals which you have to pay for anyway. Bed in our room was a originally set into the wall, once pulled down it was impossible to return to position making the space a bit cramped but as we spent most of the time out that didn't matter. Check in was slow and could have been more efficient, different staff of check-out and so much quicker.
Odd hybrid of self-catering but they do have breakfast, which we didn't have. Location convenient for the station and public transport. Bed was nice and comfortable, room was clean Check in is not until 3pm but you can leave bags there which was great.

United StatesThe attitudes of some staff members. Started with a negative comment about "lots of foreign tourists" as I walked in the door. The same attendant then proceeded to look over my head at the man standing behind me (I am a woman who travels solo), as if I had not been waiting, next in line, for the past 5 minutes. When the man behind me redirected the attendant's attention and I tried to present my credit card to check in, the attendant pushed it back at me, snapping, "I don't need this." Yet, a few minutes later, he expected me to present the card to pay for my room. I simply avoided that attendant afterwards, but then followed another incident at breakfast a few mornings later, when I dared to smile at one of the attendants only to find her rushing over to my table, making some kind of demand in words so fast I couldn't even tell what language they were in. As I was starting to apologize that I didn't speak Dutch she cut me off in English, demanding to know my room number... as if I were trying to steal breakfast rather than enjoy it as a paying guest. While asking for a guest's room number upon arriving for a prepaid meal isn't unusual, the aggression of this woman combined with the fact that I did not see her treat any of the other guests in like manner in the half hour before she noticed me made me wonder... was I just another "foreign tourist"? As if all this wasn't bad enough, I found a decimated spread with a full hour and a half left in the breakfast window. Same rude woman didn't seem to want to put anymore food out, even though other guests were asking about it. And then I noticed the entrance lobby - and my assigned room - started to smell like sewage. Turns out that was an issue in other areas of town I visited, so may just be the public system. Still unpleasant to wake up to, though.
The layout of the hotel. Room had a complete kitchenette - which I did not have time to use - along with a nice bathroom, sitting area, and fold down bed. But it was still nice to have the option of cooking. Location was also excellent - a short walk from the central train station, and around the corner from the underground trams. Neighborhood wasn't terrible. Room looked out over a garden terrace. Breakfast was available if reserved in advance, and had a decent variety of foods.

BulgariaThis night is by far my worst tourist experience ever. There was a faulty fire alarm. An automated voice "asked" us to get out around 2 AM because of the fire! Wouldly and in an endless loop. It quickly turned out that the warning was fake. The alarm forced us to leave anyway. The police and the fire brigade left 15 minutes after arriving - there was no fire. However, the staff forced all guests to stay on the street for an additional hour! When we were allowed to enter, there was another surprise. No HVAC, no elevators and no water whatsoever! They could not fix the problem, so at 11:30, we left. There were promises of a reallocation to a better hotel, free parking, and a refund for the nightmare night. The hotel was worse. The parking was far from the hotel. They refused the refund! I will probably sleep at the train station instead of entering this building again!
