How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

room could use updated furniture but overall nothing to complain really!
It was good value for money and with an excellent host who received us very well, even took our luggage and put it into our room. The breakfast was fantastic with fresh orange juice, eggs and bacon, croissants, all you could imagine and want. In the corridor there is a free tea and coffee making set available making it even better.

A very nice small family hotel right next to the beach. The room was comfortable, breakfast was delicious. There is even coffee/tea always available in the corridor.

It was noisy at night. People walking upstairs made quite a lot of noise and we got up from sleep several times.
Beautifully decorated and comfortable rooms in a great location. It was a 2-minutes walk away the beach and we could see it from the window. The host was nice and kind. Rooms and washrooms were spacious.

The hotel wall is a bit thin with bad insulation. You can hear and feel the whole building rocking whenever someone gets in, move their luggages or talking.
Great location, practical hotel parking (reservation is needed), friendly host, reasonable price, free coffee and tea, microwave oven in your family room with a good fridge, beach toys for kids

No car parking, area is controlled by parking permit. B and B only has limited permits with none avaiable for me, had to park outside of the town parking zone. No real drama as a beautiful walk along the beach front to the car, but had the weather been bad, would have been soaked by the time I got to the car. Long way to walk with bags at check out as well. More an inconvience than a drama. Limited evening meal locations near B and B,
Landlady was exccellent host. B and B is ideally situated for the beach.If working at the airport, only a short (1km or so) walk

When we were staying here there were no restaurants, waffle and ice cream places open close by.
Very cosy, nice room, with great view on the sea. It is spacious and well equipped. The breakfast is fantastic. Tram is right in front, you cannot hear it but can take it easily to go along the coast. Staff is super kind.

We were expecting a real sea view. It's more something like "you can see the sea". Nevertheless, it's a good stay.

This is the message I received Thursday 19 April after 11 days from my staying in this hotel: Dear, You left early in the morning. Your room has been paid, but the tourist tax of 2 € (per person/night) has not yet been paid. Please do you deposit it on our account ? Totale is this 12 € In the name of BVBA Rozalain BE16 6716 1748 2974 . Thank you MVG, Roos Hotel Duinekeuntje, your stay from 5 till 8 april, Thanks My answer :Sorry that you never came to clean our room since the first day and you did not say anything about the tax money till now, and you never told to us during our staying. I will give you 12 Euro next time we will hire again your hotel. We had a good time there alone. Thanks. Continue arguing : Dear Madam, I already told you in the beginning that the room had been paid for but not the tourist tax, You said tath You pat de last day , I also said that the rooms are cleaned every day after 10 am, but this was not necessary, you said yourself. I kindly ask you to transfer the tourist tax to the account, as my accounting must also be correct. There was some noise from the main road nearby but nothing too disturbing.
Very nice host, very good location at the quiet part of the beach. It was possible to arrange for a special diet for breakfast. We even got a better room than we booked.

remarkably, the only thing that wasn’t clean properly were the lamps, and they were sticky, extremely sticky at the switches, funny how they missed it, but it didn’t have any impact apart from Sticky Fingers on our stay
