Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe building is very old, so the sound traveled through the floor, and you could hear every word and footstep. The stairs are also very steep.
Fantastic location, and large room. This a great part of town to stay in, and we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. We arrived early and they were very accommodating.

United KingdomAs it is an older building the floors do creak a lot. We were able to hear every movement of the people staying in the room above. But both parties kept to themselves and it was an enjoyable stay.
I really thought the room was so inviting and the bed was ever so comfortable. It was absolutely amazing. Check-in and check-out was very simple and easy. The shower was very clean and plenty of towels and amenities were provided. The room was very clean.

AustraliaSteep stairs to second bedroom tricky for less mobile people. Phone contact was to answering machine with message in Flemish only.
The two bed apartment was really comfortable and private. Nicely furnished in a typical old building. Nice and quiet.

IrelandThe stairs to the loft room is a little 'tricky' after a few glasses of wine. However, the loft room is large & airy.
Great location in the historic district. The host was very welcoming, and allowed us to check-in early.

NetherlandsThis is a monumental home with beautiful features, which include a steep and small staircase and no soundproofing from the room above. You hear everything, we didn't need to set our own alarm... The noise wasn't a problem for us, but it was a surprise when we first arrived as we hadn't seen it mentioned in any reviews. Also Breakfast was super, but if you request your guests to be down at 9:30 then you expect everything to be ready, including the boiled eggs... As a suggestion, don't be cooking toast unless asked, or offered as all the bread products were too much and can produce a lot of wastage. Also, opera /ballet music is not for everyone and maybe make it a little less loud.
Breakfast was a good price, plenty of choice and presented lovely. comfy beds, good showers, spacious room. location is minutes away from the grote markt, shopping (the Meir) and the groene plaats private parking is available on request

Just had the most delightful stay at Bed and Breakfast Starline! The location is fantastic – right in the historic city center with tons of cool restaurants and shops nearby. The building itself is oozing history, paying homage to the Red Star Line's voyages from 1871 to 1935. And can we talk about the river just a short stroll away? Serenity on point! The staff, oh boy! Super friendly, and the owner is a gem. They really know how to make you feel at home. The rooms are cozy, especially those beds – like sleeping on a cloud. Loved the Red Star Line-inspired decor, such a cool touch. All in all, Bed and Breakfast Starline knocked it out of the park. If you want history, comfort, and top-notch hospitality, this is the spot. Can't wait to come back for more good times!

Excellent service and a very comfy room. Great character in the building and exceptional detail from the host. Jacqes was a pleasure to deal with and very helpful. Our room was large and comfy with complimentary beverages without limits. Close to restaurants and bars but quiet location for sleeping. We highly recommend this hotel.

GermanyIt's a personal shop, the manager/receptionist/host all in one, was welcoming, friendly and flexible. We arrived late with the car and we needed his help to get to the parking spot as it's pretty much in the inconspicuous place for a newbee. We liked the appeal, the charisma and comfort of the room, the old historic building, bang in the Centre, leading to your room through windy stairs, having a good pair of lungs is a decent benefit. Will be back again

GermanyWe highly recommend this place! The room is spacious, fresh with really comfortable beds and nice details. The owner and staff were very friendly and welcoming. The location is perfect (just a few minutes from the city center) on a quiet street and the house itself has an interesting history. Without a doubt we will return to this beautiful city and sleep in the same place. Thanks!
