Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceIt wasn't clear to me that no one would clean my room. Which is okay, maybe this is on me and I need to read better before booking. I would have preferred a little cleaning. There is no division for the shower so the bathroom floor was all super wet, I wasn't sure how to dry it. It did not air dry throughout the day, this has a potential to make the room messy. I would have liked a guide on how to deal with the watery bathroom.
location and the fact that it had a bathroom just for myself, I did not need to share. Location was great, not too much in the middle of the hassle but close enough you could walk everywhere.

GreeceThe bathroom door was like a saloon door so not very convenient when there’s two people in one room.. Also from 07:00am to 10:00am there was very loud noises from the building next door , probably was under construction
Great location, with cute stores nearby and very very clean! The windows were big and the building very nice. The person in the front desk very polite and helpful.

NorwayThe “bathroom” was so small that there was no room for the wash basin in there, so this was placed inside the bedroom.
This place is located about a 15 minutes walk from the railway station and about three minutes from the centre square of historic Brügge. We got a charmingly decorated room with windows facing the backyard. There were a mosquito net on one of the windows so we could keep it open all night without having to worry about insects. There were also electrical sun screens outside the windows. Everything was clean, and the personnel accommodating and kind. The front door and the door to the room unlocked/opened with a code instead of a key - so there is no key to loose or misplace (only a code to remember). The hallway looks old fashioned in a nice way.

ItalyIn this room, there was no window on external garden/street, indeed it was on a closed space, therefore no fresh air could come in this room and a fan was given to refresh the room. I would add a full height mirror; I did not like the very tall toilet.
Good location, clean hotel, available staff, stylish room.

United KingdomEn suite door was glass with gaps around the edge which gave little privacy. Shower screen didn't manage to stop the water flooding the rest of the en suite, drenching the bath mat.
Comfy bed, lovely big windows letting light in, codes on the doors, friendly staff who let us check in early and leave our bags there on our last day. Great location for seeing Bruges.

United StatesThe young man at the desk was wonderful! After 6pm, he was off so I called the number of the pensione to check the password for the wifi, and the man who answered (not the desk clerk) yelled at me. He was extremely rude!
Just a couple of blocks away from Market Square, it was the perfect location for walking around the whole City Centre!

PolandBathroom is tiny, sink in bedroom. Shower is open which means the tiny bathroom gets soaking wet and towel on floor will make the place smełl damp unless you open all the windows.
Friendly receptionsist, will give you plenty of ideas for your stay and where to eat. Room was very warm but a fan is provided. Location is great, close to the heart of the city and a lot of restaurant options nearby. Also not far to walk to train station

United StatesThere is no kettle and instant coffee/tea, which I knew on booking thanks to another review. We were surprised how much we missed it in the morning though! Also if you are older or at all unstable on your feet, it might be worth asking to avoid the rooms with steep stairs. We had no issue as women in our 30s, but I would've been afraid to bring a grandparent up them.
The location is great and the room is clean and serviceable for sleeping. A fan is provided to help with the attic heat, and there are three openable windows. We were here in June, and Bruges was quite hot during the day, but the room was okay to sleep in thanks to the windows and fan when it cooled off at night. My friend really liked the bed, and I also found it quite comfortable.

United StatesThe window is the only ventilation, aside from the fan in the shower, which requires the light to be on. But this is insignificant compared to the price and location.
Amazing location. Near lots of good sights. It was pretty quiet with the window closed. We could hear some kids screaming and having fun at night, but it wasn't bad at all.

ArgentinaThe shower is rather small and it's not possible to fully close it, so water goes everywhere even while being careful. The walls are paper thin to the point I got woken up by our neighbors' alarm.
The staff was super friendly and provided us with good recommendations for places to go (and even which places to skip!). The room was comfortable and spacious. The location was fantastic - the main touristic area of Bruges is relatively small so everything was within a short walking distance.

United KingdomMy only observation is that if you have a problem with stairs, please request a room on a lower floor when booking. As mentioned, I found the staff very helpful and attentive.
This is a small hotel/pension in Bruges which dates back centuries. It has been recently renovated to a very high standard. It is spotlessly clean and a real joy to stay there. The staff are very helpful, not only with regard to the hotel but also in providing information about Bruges.
