Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsUnfortunately the public toilet was not cleaned, same as the floor in our room ( sticky and dirty ). The toilet in the room is in the open space, right behind the bed (no walls) so this set up is not the best for privacy nor hygiene. The walls are very thin so you can hear all activities from your neighbors.
Great location, very nice and interesting interior. Very friendly host. The bed was comfortable.

Peaceful, beautiful, and good people. Glen, thank you so much for everything. He made an amazing breakfast, and he gave real information about Gent. We followed him, and we got excited about the experience of Gent. Glen gave warm hospitality to us. We will remember beautiful Gent with Glen.

MaltaThere was nothing that we didn't like. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We received a warm welcome with our check-in. The property is beautiful and so green. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and the bed was amazing which was perfect after a long day of sight-seeing. You are a short walk from the city centre and other amenities as well as the train station. Very well situated.

AustriaThe only thing I didn't like is that the room was not warm enough. Luckily the duvet was thick, but I'd recommend the owner to raise temperatures by at least 2 degrees.
The B&B is very nice; it's located in an old building refurbished with a great taste for internal architecture. The staff is great and very welcoming and the breakfast is above and beyond. Overall, I rate this place almost excellent.

United StatesAnother comfortable chair and luggage rack. Most places don't have but one, but we are two travelers.
Breakfast followed the same format each day. There were rolls, croissants, yogurt, and freshly prepared eggs. The French press coffee was the best we have had in a hotel. We ate either indoors or on the patio depending on how cool the morning was. We always spoke with our host, Glen, who would inquire about our plans and offer advice. Glen was so nice and pleasant to talk to. He went out of his way to make sure our stay was special. The room was comfortable but without a well lit area. The shower was great and large. The King-size bed was comfortable. The curtains were able to block out the sunrise. The courtyard is large with grass and trees. There was coffee available all the time. Drinks and snacks were available for purchase. The living room was comfortable place to hang out. There are only 3 guest rooms so some days we didn't see anyone else. There is no air conditioning but the room had a fan and the mornings were cool (during August!). There is a refrigerator available. There are several restaurants within easy walking distance and many more if you take the tram. San Pietro ice cream is excellent if you need another source of calories. The B&B is a 6 minute walk from Ghent Sint Pieters railroad station. The tram stops nearby (1-2 minute walk) and runs every 10 minutes. It runs to downtown Ghent or the railroad station (second stop). You can pay onboard with a credit card.

NetherlandsIt is good to realise that the rooms are facing the south/west and are in the sun all day. It was good to keep the curtains closed and the windows open to keep the room cooler. There is a school nearby and with windows open it is difficult to sleep in.
The location and the garden is wonderful. Great that the windows open and that mosquito netting is placed on all windows.

NetherlandsThe only downsides are 1) WiFi reception can be very sketchy in your room (excellent in the dining area though) and 2) stairs to the rooms are very steep.
Location is fantastic. A few mins walk from Sint Pieters & tram stops, restaurants and cafés everywhere... despite all that, once you enter the accommodation it's serene. Do you want cozier vibe than normal hotels, but more services than airbnb? Then this place is perfect.

Portugal- As far as we know, the room does not have air conditioning, only a fireplace, so it was a little cold in the room at the end of the day (April). However, the blankets were dense and we weren't cold at night.
- The people were kind and friendly. The receptionist gave us a quick introduction to the amenities and explained to us the house rules. - We could drop off our luggage before doing the check-in - The common area allows you to make some food and they also have some tea and coffee available to you - The room was so comfortable. - We loved the mix between the vintage decoration in the bedroom with the modern side of the bathroom. We stayed on the ground floor and the view from the room is amazing. - You have some exterior space, where you can eat or just mingle.
