Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe were on the 3rd floor, room 3D, and no lift so we decided to leave our luggage in the car, 6 flights of stairs are no fun when youre tired after a long journey but thats what happens in these old buildings so im not complaining The shower cubicle is ancient and definately needs replacing, and the shower tray is incredibly slippery and we just avoided falling, so a rubber shower mat is essential, we have one at home for exactly this reason
Fairly central location, tram stop is 1 minute away and cost 2 euros into Ghent, secure car parking but possibly only for 3 to 4 cars, breakfast was typical but really nice, lovely old building with lots of original features, receptionist was really helpful, a kettle in the room is so useful too, two pillows that are really soft meant a great nights sleep

AustraliaThe hotel is beautiful old world charm. Location is outside city centre about 15 min walk or tram stop 100m away. Not much around but quite. Room was good size but shower had mouldy grout.

United KingdomIt is maybe a little tired in places but that did not in anyway spoil our stay.
Friendly staff. Large rooms. Comfortable bed. Great bath with jacuzzi. Nice buffet breakfast We arrived during an unlikely cold spell and the lady on reception provided us with another duvet.

United KingdomHowever, our room was very tired - all it would need is a fresh coat of paint on the walls. I understand the decore is supposed to be a shabby chic. However, there were stains on the walls by the bed. Also, the floor creaked - it made my husband & I nervous about walking about our room as we didn't want to disturb the people in the room below.
The location is superb, breakfast & staff were superb. My husband & I love the quaintness of this hotel it is like stepping back in time.

NetherlandsSome things were very old, such as the the wooden windowframe in the bathroom showing signs of rotting and mould, squeeky floors and the old mattrass on the bed.

United KingdomMuch as it is a lovely hotel (the music playing in the reception and breakfast background was wonderful!) we found the hotel lacking "cosiness". the wooden floor boards in the bedrooms didnt add any warmth to the room and were quite noisy. the "area to sit and relax" was just a few chairs around a table - and again not really nice cosy ones, so there wasnt anywhere to sit apart from on the bed.
The breakfast was very nice, albeit it was the same every day though. Nice music playing in the background. The location was excellent - far enough away from hustle and bustle but close enough to cycle in to the centre quickly. The bed was a lovely size.

United KingdomAll minor issues which would not stop me from staying again: Lack of heating in communal area (no lounge only hall which was beautiful but freezing). Breakfast items often ran out and had to ask for top ups of many items, water not replaced in room, musty smell in bedroom (loft room).
Beautiful hotel, comfy bed, excellent quality of breakfast, lovely staff. Fabulous location.

Belgiumit's an oldie style house, therefore the floors will squeak, the neighbors will be heard, the heating will be slow to act. I can imagine someone booking this and complain. My wife liked it and I'm not complaining :)
Fast check in, charming old style house with high ceilings & broad hallways, excellent breakfast, parking available - but you need to tell upfront, 5 min walk to city center, welcoming & helpful staff
