Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsLoud talking in the hallways late at night did not seem to worry the staff.
Located near (semi) highway on the outskirts of Gent was convenient for me; parking full every night but next-door terrain could park the additional cars. Door code instead of a key very useful. Shared showers and toilets clean.

NetherlandsI am not very demanding for a 1 night sleep in a hotel. I just expect a clean, darkened room, parking place, clean bathroom. Have stayed in many similar (standard 3 bed room) hotels in France. But this one, in industrial area outside Gent, is very old and run down, it took ages to checkin (staff was away), not enough parking space. Too warm room, dirty shared shower and toilets. Overpriced for such simple hotel. I will try to avoid next time in Gent.
I had a bed for one night

GermanyLocation is literally outside the city. If you want to do sightseeing, getting to the city will take you a minimum of 40 min, including 20 min walk on the road (no side walk for pedestrians). Showers took some time to heat, but they did it’s job in the end
Nice place for a night, the room was clean and the staff was friendly. It’s presumably good for long distance drivers thou

ArgentinaWe had to rent a room late at night as we rented an apartment with SmartFlat and they never gave us access (automatic check in). When we arrived, Roland was great with the check in. He go through all the information with us, provided us with a copy of the invoice and the payment cupons and make sure that we had everything. It is a great place to go to sleep.

NetherlandsAs said, it was pretty cheap, so i can’t complain to much. But i would be nice if the hotel explained how you have to get to the actual hotel, since we drove 3 times around the area WITH google maps, but couldn’t find it until some factory workers told us which way we had to drive.
The staff was nice and it was pretty cheap

IrelandA former Formula 1 hotel with a very basic standard, sometimes even below an average hostel: e.g. no toilet seat, no plates, cups or utensils in the kitchen, very dirty towel in the kitchen, frying pan needs replacement immediately. Most of the facilities (e.g. sink and table in the room, toilets and showers) are plastic and after many years they look tired and worn out - the first impression is rather bad, then you get used to it. Also, it would be great if a small breakfast was available, even at an extra cost.
Not much, it only meets the minimum criteria for a hotel: you have a bed that you can sleep on, you have access to bathroom and kitchen (but only between 8:00 and 22:00). Reception open 24h. Quiet inside despite being located in an industrial area.

GreeceThe location is the biggest negative point for the hostel, as it is literally in the middle of nowhere. Whike there is a bus that leaves you 5 minutes away, it is built near some factories and you need to pass a railway track. The hotel was a little noisy in the night.
Value for money, room was crowded but ok, the shared toilets in the corridor they were quite clean. The room has a small sink, for washing your hands or freshening up. The people handling the reception were very friendly.

NetherlandsThe hotel is located literally outside of Ghent, on the border. It seems to be a frequent stay for truck riders. It was one of the few places available because this was a rushed trip, and it was an acceptable stay for a one-night like mine, but I wouldn't recommend it for a family trip, for example. The restrooms smells like piss. I didn't even dare to take a shower there.
The bed in the three person room is comfortable. The wifi works fine. The room seemed clean. The receptionist was kind of friendly. I was charged € 3,00 for a "municipal fee" I was not aware of.

ItalyToilets and bathrooms should be cleaned more often. The window in the room didn’t open fully so basically the room became an oven because air couldn’t pass properly. There was almost not space to walk around in the room, as the bed occupied 95% of the space.
Good price for just sleeping.

United KingdomThe hotel is near Gent harbour, and a distance from the city centre. There is a bus service (71 & 72) nearby to the Dampoort and Sint Peters stations but not the city centre, so expect to do some walking.
This is a former Formule 1 hotel, so is fairly basic. so as long as it is a basic price it works. There were sufficient toilets and showers so there were no queues.

SwedenThe location is the biggest negative point for the hostel, as it is literally in the middle of nowhere. It is built near some factories and a railway track. I would not suggest this place for any solo female travel, as the location nearby is quite deserted. Also, even though I have payed the whole amount online, the guy at the reception was admant on me paying again as he haven't received the payment from Booking.com which I found very weird, in the end he agreed for only the city tax that needs to be paid at the location but it was quite a hassle to make him understand that the payment is already done.
The room was comfortable and while the washrooms and showers were in the corridor they were quite clean. The room had a small sink, so you don't have to go out for washing your hands or freshening up.
