How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Cleanliness. Seemed like they vacuum the floor but don’t really clean the beds to make sure all the sand is gone. Had a water boiler but no coffee or tea or cups to drink with. It was tucked away in the closet.
We went late to breakfast (still one hour before closing time),and there were no more croissants or other pastry left. It never got re stocked. Coffee was served in individual pots which means cup two was luke warm. No hard boiled eggs only scrambled or fried (upon request). Better variety compared to other three star hotels though. Location was great. Walking distance to the beach , main attractions, pharmacies and supermarkets.

Our stay was good, the hotel was functional and clean. Parking was close by which was a bonus and the hotel was really central too.
Location excellent, close to where we needed to be. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Comfort and cleanliness were great too. Bonus to have the market in the square opposite on Monday morning. Spent a lovely couple of hours wandering around it. Also close to the tram stop for the coastal tram which was a lovely way to see the coast right down to De Panne.

I nearly lost my reservation because the credit card data could NOT be updated (for an unknown reason). Therefore, if you would like to stay in this hotel, pay in advance.
The hotel is quite small, but well-equipped. The facilities are well maintained. It's been a pleasure to have a kettle in the room :) Also, the rooms had been cleaned on a daily basis.

Market-days in Blankenberge - directly in front of hotel - start at 7:30am Mondays + Fridays. NOISE (potentially) starts as early as 4:00am!!! :-( In wintertime certainly no problem, in summer windows need to be closed. A/o choose room to the backside = away from central plaza.
Nice, friendly, relaxed staff. Room & bathroom in good condition. Recently renovated. Spacious, too. Excellent value for money. Breakfast currently not available. However good choices & recommendations just a few steps out of main entrance.

Perfect location if you are walking the Tweedaagse Voettocht Blankenberge in May. Very close to both the starting line and the train station. Many restaurants nearby.

At first glance it looks nice and modern, but the finishing is old and not nicely done. There are holes in the walls and floor where dust and dirt settles in. The lobby smells like cigarettes.

Could hear noises from other rooms throughout the night. There were people smoking in their rooms as well. Location was great but not a great night sleep sadly :(

Cleaning was not very high quality. I lived there for 4 days and they only changed the water once and gave me new tea bags. Reception is almost always absent. I arrived at 19:00, but it was closed and I had to go to another hotel for the key. It was quite inconvenient as I have physical limitations in the form of crutches.
The location is great. There is hot water. a comfortable desk for working in the room.

The room wasn't clean, wholes in the wall all over, dirt sticking to the floor & the window didn't close. Luckily it wasn't particularly cold outside. Also the reception wasn't covered in the evening. The toilet seat was way to small for the toilet itself, so you had to basically sit on the porcelain. Not nice

Let me thank you once again for you flexibility and help! I booked a room and did not notice I could not check in till 8 pm. But really nice gentleman from reception organised the change so that I could pay in another hotel, but still sleep in the hotel Cavalli , without losing money. Thank you, you saved our stress and it was really nice. Hotel - very close to the beach, parking next to door, restaurants, cafe. Highly recommend!
