It was fairly functional. Just a few extras like shampoo, two pillows per person and a spare toilet roll would have made a big difference.

The property was spotlessly clean and had all the basics you need. An excellent secure carpark. Excellent value for money.

It was a bit chaotic checking in - there was no one there! However with the help of some other travellers and a neighbour, we managed to track down the owner on the phone, who gave us codes for key safes and all was fine. It was actually quite farcically funny but probably would have been less so if I’d been in a rush or if it had it been raining…!

The location is walkable from the station but Google Maps gave a wrong instruction, when you go out of the tunnel on the North side of the train station you have to go left (Google said right) and then find Rue de Crampon. For those of you who are lactose intolerant -- bring your own oat or almond milk -- neither the hotel Côté Grange nor any coffee place or bakery that we entered offered plant-based milk of any kind.

The Proprieteress is very friendly and helpful and went to great lengths to order us a pizza when we arrived. The rooms are fine and the facility is nice and just at the edge of the urbanised area. Tournai is a very old city and we stayed only one night but recommend two nights in order to visit the many interesting musea. The optional breakfast is good and if you order an omlet it's outstanding.

Limited facilities. We had to ask for a kettle to make tea after a very long drive. A very basic breakfast for 2 was €24 which seemed excessive.

Brand new building with aircon in every room. Good curtains to block light. Rooms are not huge, but the contents are sensible. An Ikea table, a good chair. Compact open wardrobe for hanging, with a shelf on top. Nice new bathrooms.

The lovely owner manager was very attentive to our needs. We booked last minute at 22:50 and arrived at 23:20 only 10 before the final check in time at 23:30. The directions were good but the B&B doesn’t have a sign and we drove past it and on the second attempt we located it by looking at the photos on line. I have added a photo of the What3words location outside the gate to help any future Nomads find this wonderful lady’s fantastic abode.

The hotel is gated with a keypad for entry. When we arrived at 21:30 no-one answered the intercom and no key code was provided beforehand. We had to phone and then wait for someone to arrive and let us in. We had provided our arrival time beforehand. The hotel was basically unmanned with no one present at the front desk. Basically a motel. The bathroom was very clean but the only sensible way to shower is to sit down in the bath as there is no shower cubicle.

Cons: This was a modern facility that would appeal to those who like minimalist design. By minimalist I mean no sign indicating the B & B was located on their property (so we missed it and had to circle the block on this one-way street), no reading lights by the bed, no toilet roll dispenser in the bathroom (the toilet paper was hidden away in a drawer in the bathroom, no eggs for breakfast the first morning, no windows in the breakfast room. and no warm greeting from the host. We had requested a breakfast at 8:15 and when we arrived, we were asked to come back in 10 minutes but breakfast was not ready at that time either. The next day we arrived at the breakfast room at 8:20 and our host was not there and the room was freezing and the table was littered with dirty dishes. Breakfast was not ready until well after 8:30. We never felt welcome.
