Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOur ground floor room (which was very nice but a bit dark) was described as having a "small patio". This is a very misleading description. There is a glazed door to a lightshaft which measures about two metres in each direction and the shaft is about three metres deep. This means that very little natural light enters the room. The statement that "There is no view of Bruges from this room" should be replaced by a more honest description such as "The only view from this room is a brick wall situayed slightly less than two metres from the glazed door".
Delightful hotel in an exceptionally good location

United StatesThis hotel was absolutely fabulous. The location and the building was prettier than all the pictures online. The staff was so attentive to our needs-reservations for dinner, cocktails on the patio, suggestions for lunch & buying chocolate, letting us rest in the cool ac lobby while we waited for the taxi they called for us to get to the train station. Also, the breakfast was delicious. The staff was just so pleasant. This is a 5 star hotel. How we would love to go back…

United KingdomNeed to get rid of the 'key to keep on power' in the rooms. It means you can't leave anything on charge while your out exploring as you need to take the key with you.....
Perfect location. Wonderful staff. Beautiful little boutique hotel.

United StatesFor the price the bedding and mattress should have been better. The room had one section of squeaky flooring. Didn't bother us so much as it had to have been annoying for anyone staying in the room below ours.
The staff was beyond our expectations! All our requests were met with genuine interest. The location was ideal for a romantic stay. It felt like a personal private hotel.

RwandaThe mattress was not comfortable because they combine 2 single beds and have a depression in the middle but after we talked with the staff they provided a topper that make it better. And they told us the owner will replace the mattress for all rooms . That’s really nice !!!
I loved the well friendly service from the staff and the very romantic atmosphere the hotel provided us in our wedding anniversary. It was really great and we will be back for sure. Congratulations to all staff.

GermanyIt was absolute fantastic to stay in a place with so much character and authenticity. We were amazed by the old interior and genuine art collection. The only two small downsides were regarding the breakfast (which was also great and tasty but not quite worth the 25 euros p.p.) and also the information about the city provided by the staff. We had to charge our electric car and came back to a fine because we didn’t know that during the charging process we would’ve been required to buy a normal parking ticket. We would’ve expected the staff to know about parking regulations in the city and to be able to inform us accordingly as tourists (we asked). However m, those are just tiny minuses and fairly particular expectations. The amenities are fantastic.

United StatesThe location is beautiful. It's in such a perfect spot it can be seen in everyone's postcard-worthy iconic photos of Bruges. We even bought a throw pillow cover in a local store that includes the hotel exterior. Despite the awesome location, the entrance is down a quaint little side street, so it feels cozy and secluded in a busy tourist city. The staff were all very friendly and helpful; obviously well-trained to be so. The room was on the top floor, like staying in a beautiful but large attic. It had little windows that opened onto cute little views of the alleys and waterways, which we loved. The bed was comfortable, the amenities were lovely, and we would definitely go back again. Highly recommended.

SpainI suffer from sleep apnea and have to use a CPAP machine, a socket adjacent to the bedhead would have been useful. Otherwise, very difficult to think of ways it could have been better!
Superb loction, quiet but close to everything Bruges has to offer (and that's lots). Our room was excellent and the hotel had a really nice feel to it. The staff were friendly and helpful, overall exceptional.
