Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LuxembourgThe doors to the rooms were quite loud and the walls quite thin. No problem for me but maybe for other people.
Staff was very friendly when I arrived and showed me around. Very quiet place, tidy, big shower.

GermanyParking is only public in front of the hotel - you need to search for place. Locking external doors at 22 - you need to ring the bell for staff to open (but anyway it was quick). It could be good to inform guests for booking that this is a sanatorium for older people with some rooms available for booking as a hotel (for me it was OK).
Perfect location in the centrum of De Haan. Very good price for this location and season. Kind staff. Free parking in De Haan, but not belonging to the hotel. Nice newly renovated room with soft bed (but the other rooms can be different).

Germanywhen I stayed here last year I was very pleased and found it very good value for money. This year was much more expensive. I was told that is because they had invested in improvements. I found the improvements negligible so that it was less value for the money even though other hotels in the area are charging more (I have no experience with them). The TV was complicated to use (for someone of my generation perhaps), I could hear whatever was going on in the hallway so another improvement should be soundproofing the doors.
A beautiful old building, great location on the small central park near the beach and the coastal tram stop. Ostend or Knokke Heist are not far. Large room with plenty of storage space and a room safe. All staff I came into contact with were lovely. This hotel is mainly a care home so it has a laid back atmosphere. Everything worked well, good WiFi.

GreeceThe fact that is NOT what I paid for > it is disrespectful to a traveller and the elderly to use this place as “both” elder sanatorium and “hotel” without mention it anywhere. I arrived and was given a single room with a bed resembling a hospital bed, and all around the dining area only elder people existed. It is not that it included everyone, it was only surrounded by the elder and their helpers. I complained given that I paid for a touristic hotel with a different culture than the elder care, and they denied what I saw : they told me > first that is in transition to be a hotel, then a different lady that is both sanatorium and hotel and finally both said “it is only hotel it is not what you say”. Except for this, 15€ for white bread and couple of small confitures as well as an awful room with disgusted walls and no hot water at night, make this experience UNACCEPTABLE.

GermanyIt was high season so I had a little trouble finding a parking spot at first but I did find one -and all the parking in the town is free!
I liked everything! Lovely old stately building, care center expanding to also be part hotel. Very original! Very friendly, helpful coworkers, good breakfast, lovely large room with a view, good bed, large private bathroom. And the location: marvelous! Right on the little park which contained a cafe, minigolf, tennis and on the first day happened to be hosting an exhibition of Porsches. Next day was a concert in the bandstand. All within 1-2 minutes walk from the hotel. A five minute walk or so to the beach boulevard. On Saturday was a huge market and it was busy and interesting. Everything under the sun for sale! The beach just behind it was also lovely! Clean sand and plenty of space. The coastal tram station was also only a five minute walk and I took that the next day to Ostend which was fairly close. I only wish I'd had more time in De Haan and at this hotel!

GermanyThe most important notice in the description of hotel is missing: the house is sanatorium für very old und disable people. Possibly I`ve booked it too, wenn i knew about it before, but firstly it was schock reaction. Honestly, it must be known before booking. I work with disabled people und wish for 2 days vacation something different. Instead of it I slept on the real sickbed. In general I mean the Hospital flow
Location and personal are good!

PolandI absolutely loved the place. As someone previosly said, it's mostly a care place for elderly and I think I was the only hotel guest. But everyone is extremely nice and kind. Rooms are spacious, clean. Building itself looks like from fairy tale. I had a great view. For the breakfast with an omelette made just for me. I will be definitely back. There is a restaurant in a hotel when you can get tea/coffee etc. You can't get better location.

BelgiumThe hotel is a recovery centre for elderly, having few rooms as hotel. although I came here to rear so for me this was not a problem, this should be clearer in the hotel description in case guests might be looking for a different type of vibe.
The location of the hotel was perfect: close to the Parc and as well as the beach. The room was clean and fully renovated. staff was extremely polite, helpful and friendly. you can have a breakfast for 12 euros which is great value for money.
