How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The location of the apartment was really good and central, walking distance from main tourist attractions. The view from our room was very magical. Despite the room being quite small, it was very comfortable and well-decorated. The room was well equipped with everything needed. The staff was also very accommodating. No complaints. Would definitely recommend it.

The bath tub wasn’t the cleanest but overall clean everywhere.
So close to central! View from the windows was beautiful. Helpful staff. And the room was really large! would definitely come back!

The rooms, despite the accessories being modern, the room itself was quite dated with thin carpets and polystyrene ceilings.
Property had a lift (which is hard to find in Bruges) which was ideal with our pram! The little amenities like kettle, coffee machine and mini fridge in the room was amazing!

Bed and pillows were a bit too firm for my liking but this certainly wouldn’t put me off coming back!
Perfect location. Great communication from owners before, during and after stay. Easy to check in and out. All you could need in the room, which was spacious and comfortable. Lovely touches in the room and nicely decorated. Beer and chocolate on arrival, which was a lovely treat!

Great location, beautiful surrounding atmosphere, great staff. Everything about the hotel was exceptional. It was clean, stylish.Room itself was well equipped and comfortable. I was very pleased with my stay. I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.

The only thing that was lacking was a desk or chair to sit on. However, with the room size, it might have felt cramped.
Great Location, 5 - 10 min walk to shops and restaurants. Nice clean room, coffee machine, Netflix. Nice view of the River.

There is nothing to complain about, really.
The hotel is in a very quiet place, which is great, and it's in the very heart of the city. I could see the canal from my windows. Huge radiator under the widows and I loved it, because it warms up the room in just minutes. Chocolates and beer as a welcoming compliment are so nice!

The bathroom didn't have a window that opened and there was no extraction fan; there was passive ventilation from a hole, that mosquitoes entered through. The room was quite hot (August) but there was a useful fan.
Modern room with lovely view of the canal. We appreciated the welcome beer and chocolates. Easy access to the hotel with simple 24 hour check-in. Quiet location. Rooms on different floors made for an unusual layout which added to the charm of the stay. The window had mosquito net. The location is great, 5 minutes from the historical centre.

A little table with 2 chairs would have been lovely. The light bulb on the main light was too dim- the room felt too dark.
Very comfy bed Great location by the canal. Complimentary bottle of beer upon arrival- and it was cold!

The location was amazing, right next to the canal, check in was smooth, the owners were friendly, the bed incredibly comfortable. Would recommend to stay here.
