Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI very much need the exercise of climbing stairs, so three flights was appreciated. Other travellers may wish to review access arrangements.
Lovely old house. Privately owned and feels very loved-for. Owner checked me in and was serving breakfast the following day. He is a musician and speaks perfect English. The antithesis of an Ibis or indeed the ugly modern Marriott across the road. Nothing fancy, so perhaps not right for those who value globally homogeneous sheen. However if you wish to spend time in an ancient merchant’s house and don’t really care how modern the bathroom fittings are, then I recommend Erasmus without qualification.

United KingdomThe bath, nowhere to hang up the showerhead and no shower curtain. It was a bit of a death trap when everything around inevitably got wet.

United KingdomBecause the streets are cobbled, any traffic outside can't help making a noise. It's on a quiet street, but still you could hear deliveries at 6am.
It is like staying in a stately home - there is so much space, and beautiful antique furniture. Even a suit of armour in the dining room! The bed was big and comfortable, and the breakfast was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. It's just a short walk from the centre of town, and not far from a tram stop if you want to travel further.

United Kingdomonly one tiny thing - a screen on the bath would have stopped the shower making the floor wet.
Great location, super sized room with sitting area and comfy bed. Lovely eclectic range of furniture and ornaments which made this hotel special. The breakfast was very good with eggs cooked to order - fantastic scrambled eggs, as well as fresh croissants and bread.

ItalyWe got an upgrade but got two twin beds instead of a queen. Also, my girlfriend didn't like the outside of the hotel. I told her it's in a 16th century building but she had to get inside before she warmed to the place.
Breakfast was one of the best we've had and the elegant dining room and suit of armor made us feel like we were back in the Middle Ages.

United KingdomThere is a faint musty smell when walking into the room, most probably due to the old carpet. However, this quickly goes away after aerating the room for a few minutes.
The hotel is an authentic vintage building with a charming dining hall with view on a garden with a hedge maze. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I was very luck to be in a quiet room on 2nd floor with view on the garden.

GermanyThere was a sewer odour in the bathroom
It's a hotel in a very old building, so you should be ready for it. Small rooms, squeaky stairs, old furniture. It's really atmospheric, and you should stay here, just to get a taste of it. I wouldn't recommend it for a business trip though, it's really for tourism. The staff is very friendly and the dining room is just pictorial.

United KingdomI don’t believe that there is a lift and the stairs to the fourth floor are wooden so we had to tread quietly returning late at night. Carrying the suitcase up was a good workout. This is a nice hotel in an older building. If I wanted characterless, modern, 21st Century accommodation then I would have stayed in a Marriott or Hilton.
The hotel is a unique historical house conversion with authentic old antiques and decor. Great location 3 minutes from the main central area and Sint-Michiels Parking 🅿️ which we used for the car. (Remember to pre-register your car with the Ghent ULEZ vehicle emissions registry to enter the city.) We asked for, and had two twin rooms with single beds. These rooms were nice and located on the top floor with pitched ceilings and exposed beams. The breakfast room was indeed grand and had a very good spread of morning fare. Staff fantastic, accommodating and helpful. There is a small urban supermarket next door that closes about 8pm.

LithuaniaRoom is super simple. And now why only 7 points for a hotel with a feeling of the castle in the city center? It's breakfast. Selection is minor. You can ask for scrumble or boiled egg, but that small portion is all you can get as a warm food. Without any vegetables. The bread feels like of a type, which requires few minutes in the oven before serving. And coffie machine for only instant coffie. I wish the owner invest some love and few euro for breakfast. Then the rating would be close to 10 even with a bit "tired" rooms
Location is very good for tourists. Nice old styling. For some this can be disadvantage. For me - it's exclusive. Very old building with a feeling of the castle. Breakfast room is impressive.

United KingdomRoad/walking directions were created without tourists in mind. As a non-Flemish visitor making our way around town was not as easy as we might have expected. The hotel staff was very helpful but once outside things were more difficult.
