Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe one-person room was a bit small, but thoughtfully engineered and comfortable.
Nice, old-fashioned hotel with charm. Gracious host, ample buffet breakfast and a quiet location 10 minutes away (walking) from the very touristy center.

NetherlandsIt’s an old building so the walls are quite thin. However it was very quiet at night inside so I wasn’t disturbed by my fellow room neighbors.
Cute boutique hotel in a quiet street. The continental breakfast was great and the bed very comfy. I was given some great tips to get around the city and about local events by the manager.

United KingdomThere was nothing negative about the property itself. Parking on the street was a problem though seeing as the tariffs were incredibly expensive.
The room was clean with a modern look. The hotel was very eco friendly in a quiet neighbourhood. Paul the host was very friendly, he even prepared our breakfasts in the morning.

United StatesMy third-floor room had sloping ceilings I had to watch out for, or I'd knock my noggin. The upside of that, though, was that the balcony outside my room gave me a rooftop view.
The staff went out of their way to be helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, and I felt cared for. If I had a question, they made sure I knew useful information. This is how a hotel should be run.

In the beautiful city of Bruges, very close to the center, the small hotel was a gem. Paul is a generous host, the room was nice and the bed very comfortable. Everything was at our taste, breakfast was very nice and overall a place I would stay again in the future!

United KingdomReally well run hotel, Paul and his family are very hardworking and dedicated and knowledgeable about the area. The hotel was easy to contact prior to our arrival to arrange car parking. Breakfast included was an added bonus - fresh tea, coffee, eggs, bread, croissants and condiments etc. set us up for the day. Very clean and comfortable room - bed big and comfy, English channels on the TV and quiet in the night. Location excellent - 10/15 minute walk into the main square where all the shops are. We particularly liked the tea/coffee making facilities so we could take a cuppa up to the room.

United KingdomOne of my friends remarked that although you could get free tea/coffee from reception, they would have preferred tea making facilities in the room, to make it easier to have a drink first thing in the morning rather than having to go to reception. I would have like to see some drawers in the room to put smalls in. That said there was plenty of hanging space in the wardrobe with enough hangers, something you don't get in other hotels.
The Hotel Fevery is a lovely boutique hotel in a quiet area, but within a 1km walk to the main market square. The room was very clean, had everything you needed even a great hairdryer, not the usual rubbish one in the bathroom, but a proper one. Paul made a very nice breakfast every day, we had bread, toast, rolls, jams etc. Ham, salami, cheese as well as waffles and he also gave us a soft boiled egg every day and made pancakes one day too. You could have tea, coffee as well as apple or orange juice. In reception there was a small fridge with drinks in you could buy for very reasonable prices and the selection of beer there was great. You could also get soft drinks, crisps and chocolate too at reasonable prices. There was also free tea and coffee you could make to suit in reception as well. There were glass bottles in each room filled with fresh water, which you could refill from reception, which meant you did not have to buy plastic bottles from the supermarket and carry back to the hotel. Paul was great in recommending bars/ restaurants and also helped one of my friends with her travel plans from Bruges to Dunkirk via public transport. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

RussiaBefore the bedtime, it can be a bit noisy, because the facility is quite old, and floors/ceilings/walls are not fully sound proof, especially when it comes to footsteps. But again, since everyone observes quiet hours, this is hardly a drawback.
This is a very nice and cosy, privately run hotel. You get the feeling the owners do real effort to make the stay comfortable, you are taken care of. The bed is fantastic, and what is more fantastic is the pillows! This is the first hotel ever which has pillows which keep form and do not get into a flat something even after the whole night! The location is super quiet. As well as the other lodgers: as soon as the clock strikes 11 pm, everyone goes dead silent. I guess the owners' attitude is an important factor here: signs about keeping quiet at night are everywhere, which is perfect for such quietness fanatics as myself :-)
