How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Our host could not have been more helpful, even getting us to the bus stop to avoid having to wait an extra hour. The information he provided meant that we were able to have the absolute best day in Brugge and we were able to see the Winter glow which is amazing and we would not have found otherwise. An excellent choice was available for breakfast along with a good cup of English tea and also great coffee. There are nice touches such as an inexpensive mini bar and English TV channels.

This is a family run hotel that is friendly and welcoming. We had a large room and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent and varied. The staff are multilingual and conversation is very easy.

Couldn't find any faults especially for the price
Marco and Natalie were excellent hosts making us feel very welcome. Fabulous breakfast served with humour by Marco. Lovely large garden to relax in, added bonus of having a pool

there was a smell of cigarettes upstairs. the owners should switch to vaping. It was quite off puitting

Beautiful property close enough to Brugge to be convenient and far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. Marco and family were exceptional hosts, nothing too much trouble and superb breakfast!

Price for the night I find it expensive. Only because I think rooms were a bit outdated, lack of natural light, the fridge wasnt cold enough to keep drinks in there, there was no lift.. seems not many guests have been staying there for so long. One of the rooms where my brother was staying it was full of mosquitoes. Him and his partner werent able to rest that night. Looks nice on the pictures but when you go there is actually a bit dissapointing.

Dana tasting facilities the host were the best we’ve had very kind and helpful, there were no restaurants open as it was quite late and the owner very kindly drove me to the nearest takeaway.

The smell in the room was a bit disturbing, not very fresh. We had to open the window in the roof (attic room) to let some fresh air in, which helped a bit. No bar and no restaurant was a bit of a disappointment: good to keep in mind while booking that it is more of a B&B place. The garden looked pretty nice on the pictures, however, it looked a bit unprepared for the visits: the terrace was not open and the facilities were not really in use.
The location is good, around 10 km away from Brugge. For those seeking a calm place to relax after a day of sightseeing it is a perfect place for the price. The breakfast was good and the staff was very friendly and hospitable. Dogs friendly!

We felt a bit chilly in the night. Our room had only thick curtains, maybe some light curtain to get the light through but have some privacy would be nice!
Amazing staff and beautiful gardens. The Chateau was ver comfortable and the rooms were very spacious and quiet. The breakfast was delicious!

Could prepare better for the 3rd person (kid) since we have registered. We had to prepare it ourselves and it was not too comfy.

Hotel in great location to reach Bruges without being inside the kaos of the city, great breakfast and friendly and helpful owner. We stayed during the period with the pool closed, but the garden in summer must really be a space to enjoy. We will be back!
