Portugal20 reviews2 helpful votes“Avoid if you can”There are notable areas where improvement is warranted, particularly in terms of management and attention to detail, given the relatively high prices charged for the stay (we paid over 630 euros for 3 nights). Communication prior to our arrival was lacking, despite our efforts to obtain information about check-in timings and procedures. Specifically, we requested a check-in time outside the 2-hour slot provided (4 to 6 pm), and our initial booking request was declined. Subsequently, when we managed to acquire the owner's personal email contact, we received no response. This led to an unnecessarily stressful drive from southern France to Belgium, risking our family's safety, just to arrive on time. Notably, we later discovered that the owner lives next door, making a slight delay in arrival time feasible. Upon check-in, we were unexpectedly asked to pay an additional 150 euros as a deposit. This concept and amount were not mentioned during the booking process (in booking dot com), and it stands out as uncommon within the context of typical tourist accommodations. Two weeks after departure 141 euros were returned. No explanation given for retention of 9 euros. The promised bed linens were conspicuously absent, and the beds themselves were aged, unclean, odorous, and equipped with uncomfortable mattresses. The pillows were unusable due to their odor. Contrary to the claim on Booking, stating that bed linens are provided and professionally cleaned, this was evidently not the case. The overall cleanliness left much to be desired. We found ourselves cleaning dishes and cutlery before use. The sofa-bed, which we only used as a sofa, was in a deplorable state of disrepair and uncleanliness. Basic necessities were lacking; there was no toilet paper, bathroom towels, or amenities. Furthermore, the kitchen lacked essential cleaning materials such as detergents and dish towels. Although a TV was present, the majority of listed channels had no signal.
The house has been well restored and occupies a fantastic, central location in Treignes, situated by the river and featuring a well-maintained garden. Its spacious layout harmoniously blends with the village's architectural style.
