Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyNo kettle for boiling water was a first for me in a long time. The toilet didn't lock and worse, there was a (tiny) slit that allowed the person laying on the bed to look slightly into the toilet. Was quite uncomfortable for us. No soap for washing hands. Supermarkets were fairly far away. Only the most basic of equipments - closet, beds, one desk and chairs. Shower with a curtain. Also, water was not draining properly, so it was not possible to use 100% power from the shower otherwise the room would flood. The farm animals also made a lot of (nice) noise in the morning so earplugs are recommended.
Very nice looking hotel with friendly staff. Large spacious room with very nice comfortable beds and cushions. Very clean. Shower and toilet were split which was ideal not to block them if the other is in use. Towels were available. Elevator to the rooms. Good parking. Nice view from the room. Towels were available, with some shower gel. Room was cleaned by staff during our stay.

United KingdomBreakfast wasn’t fantastic for the cost.
Impressive building, clean, quiet. Handy parking. The place appears to be some kind of religious retreat and has the air of a hostel rather than a B&B or hotel, but it was clean and spacious.

NetherlandsThe room selection on booking.com was not entirely clear. I ended up with a room for people with a disability which I didn't really need. The breakfast variety could be better. I expected more types of bread (not only slices).
I chose this hotel because of the low price and because it's very close to the GR5 walking route. It matched my expectations in a good way. It seems to cater to religious people visiting the nearby Banneux religious site. OK the room was somewhat basic and outdated but considering the price and the nature of my stay it was good. There is a full bar with a sitting area to enjoy a nice drink in the evening. The hotel also provided breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dinner was basic but very tasty and a good price. The buffet style breakfast was also basic but still filling. Giving you a nice big thermos of freshly brewed coffee.

SwedenThe breakfast was nothing to have, definitely not worth 9€, coffe, tea and sliced bread, boiled eggs some of the days. But FYI this place was probably a hospital before with a church built in, and it definitely shows. Hospital beds, "help" strings/button in our room and chair in the bathroom. The bathroom had poor ventilation and an unpleasant odur. Everything was very old and out dated like furniture, and we had only one outlet in the entire room that was available we had to remove the light to use the second one.
Was here for the F1 GP so this was very affordable stay with free parking and 20 min from the track. The staff didn't speak a single word of English, but they did help us with everything we needed and was helpful.

United KingdomAs previous answer. Old lady in charge was quite surly; did not attempt to speak any English, so it was up to me with schoolgirl French. Did not smile or attempt a welcome. Even told my son to vacate room by 07.30, but showed her my booking form which stated noon. Just shrugged, in reply. I had an accident, fell over in the bathroom and sprained/twisted my leg badly, and could hardly walk. She showed no concern for my wellbeing or sympathy. To top it all, tried to overcharge for the breakfasts taken, but fortunately, had the booking form with correct price. Another shrug.
Breakfast had poor selection. Worst I’ve seen anywhere in the world! Water for tea was tepid! My son only had one meal, and refused to go on subsequent days. On the penultimate morning did not even have a cold boiled egg on offer! Hotel in the middle of nowhere. If I had known the reality, would never have chosen it!

GermanyA remote place, some commonalities with a monastry, "sober". You get all what you need, no luxuries, even though based on a manor house from 1880. A good place to stay over night and relax.

NetherlandsWith a group of four friends we stayed just one night at the hotel. Notwithstanding our short stay, we had a great experience visiting this place. After we made some mistakes in the reservation, the personel did everything to make room for us. Eventually we could stay at the hostel and everone was very friendly. I would visit this place again, just for the people. On top of that, the place is nicely situated in the hills and the woods, the building looks beautiful from outside and is proper inside. The rooms where OK, the atmosphere was fantastic.
