How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The rooms are super small, but that was expected. The parking space isn't free.
The hotel is very accessible with the car and it has a parking place on site. The reception and the cafe areas are nice and cozy. Although the rooms are super small, they're very clean. It's very close from the city center (15 min walk). The staff is friendly.

The room was quite small, but if you just stay there for sleeping it is not a problem at all.
The room was very clean and had everything we needed, including toiletries and a hair dryer. We slept very well and enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel. Although it was close to a train station we did not hear much noise. The city center was about 20 minutes walk away.

It was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. The air conditioning only worked on heating. It was impossible to open the window and the room was really warm. I talked to the receptionist about and received the answer that the air conditioning is set this way and nothing can be done about it. I went to the bar and asked for a bucket of ice, but I was told that I had to download an application to my phone to order anything. I understand that this is a cheap option when it comes to a hotel, but some things should be solved in a different way...

not the nicest area, tiny rooms, but that's to be expected. strange and loud music in the lobby.
near enough to centre to walk, although not the nicest area. just outside of congestion zone. super clean room, nice staff let us add a friend to the booking. paid parking was adequate.

Window isn't window, it means you can't open it and can't get fresh air into the room, there is just an aircondition which provides you with dry air.

I got 24 emails asking me to check in online with a link that didn't work so could not check in online. Checking in at reception was quick. However I still got emails about checking in online after I checked in! Not sure if down to issue with booking.com or your system.
Hotel was easy to find and the experience was seamless from checking in to checking out. Staff were friendly and helpful. I liked my pillow so much I've bought one.

Twin room was tiny - there was absolutely no separation between the beds. Also I received over 30 emails asking me to check in, using a broken link and the emails have continued to spam my inbox after the reservation has been completed

our triple room was barely big enough for 2 people. this was far below par

Not enough tables on breakfast, location is not very centred for the size of the city. But achievable in 20 min by foot
Clean, comfortable rooms with nice bathroom. The room was a bit tiny, not quite enough space to locate personal belongings, but for the price it was very clean and looked new. Breakfast was okay

The only thing I always need in Ibis hotels (I've stayed in Paris, Den Haag and in Ghent) - an electric kettle in a room. I can live without TV, but I want to drink hot coffee in the morning and hot tea in the evening IN a room)
Good location, 8 min to the FlixBus stop and about 15 min to the center of Ghent. Nice staff, clean modern apartaments.

You can't open the windows.
Not far from the city centre. We were there during the Festival of Lights and the hotel was on the route. Very clean and you have everything you need for a short stay.
