Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesA perfect location in the center of Brussels. I would only recommend it for solo travelers. The winding stairs are extremely narrow and the room small, but clean and quaint.

CyprusNot for travellers who have larger luggage than cabin baggage because of the very narrow staircase. The bathroom was not very practical as the towels were on a floor stand that kept falling apart and that had to be removed to make space to take a shower. It would be more practical to put hangers on the wall. The shower curtain could be changed. During the 3 days we stayed, there was no personal contact with any staff and the garbage bin in the common kitchen had not been emptied so we had to fill our own plastic bags.
Excellent location, in the city center and 2 minutes from Central Station! The room was ok, quite clean.

MaltaSome simple details were missing, but I got used to it. Instead of a large box, it may have been better to put a small table and chair, for which there should be space enough.
Everything was miniature in this BnB. I felt two times oversized when twirling up the wooden stairways. Every floor has exactly one room. The room was large enough and the toilet and shower were a 'just fit'. If you like old, wooden, quaint and central, you may want to give it a try.

SwitzerlandSteep stairs, as mentioned before booking. Not adapted to a big suitcase.
Excellent localisation. Original building. Very quiet despite the central location.

AustraliaShared kitchen facilities could be improved ie, faulty microwave door, kettle not always working, and freezer not usable due to being completely frozen. Also, curtains barely blocked out light so sleeping was difficult. The size of the room and bathroom were small.
A text the day before arrival advising not to take large suitcases up the 200 year old stairs is unacceptable. We paid for our room so had no other option. The staircase was rickety and spiral so we struggled,

Its location and its very original ‘structure’ of the building (spiral staircase, one room per floor etc…)

FranceWe loved everything
We LOVED L’Epicentre. Beautiful room, perfectly located, so nice. We had every comodity we needed, everthing was clean and the host is super nice and attentive. Even though the area is busy, the windows isolate the noise perfectly and we slept amazing. We loved staying in a house with history and we saw this in the stairs. Disclaimer: we found that if we were bigger people, it would have been harder to fit the stairs as they are so narrow and steep.

HungaryIt s absurdly difficult to find the entrance based on the description. There is not number on the house, and at least a photo of the art gallery that is the actual entrance could help. The stairs are even difficult to climb with a small hand luggage, very narrow - it is rather a ladder in 21 century standards.
It is a nice room, clean and nicely arranged, in a nice location for tourists.

CroatiaProblem is description on booking. It should state----It is nice place for healthy young climbers with 1 kg bag.
My recent stay at L'Epicentra through Booking.com was a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive side, the location couldn't have been better - just a stone's throw away from the central square. The room is nice and clean. However, some significant issues weren't adequately communicated before booking. Firstly, there was a complete lack of signage on the street indicating the location of the facility, which made finding it quite challenging. But the biggest issue by far was the accessibility - or lack thereof. Nowhere in the booking information did it mention the extremely narrow and steep stairs leading up to the third floor. It is described as something special to have, but no warning. As someone with medical conditions, I found them challenging to navigate, and I can only imagine how difficult it would be for someone with more severe mobility issues, vertigo, with families with small children or heavy luggage. I must admitt, cleaning lady hepled me with my bag. I was offered by the owner to change facility, but it was at the time for me inpossible.

GermanyEverything went really good.
The location is well connected, specially if you want to be close by the Gare Centraal. The location is quite beautiful with a touch of an old / artistic building. I really liked it because was quite practical for me. My only recommendation is that if you take this accommodation, you do not travel with big luggage; otherwise you can damage the stairs or you will have a difficult moment training to carry it up / down. Same way I wouldn´t recommend it for kids or old people.

IcelandVery tiny bathroom. I understand that the stair between floors is classified at the Unesco patrimonio. Never the less the stair is way to steep and way too narrow to be used as accommodation for tourists. I could not take all my luggage to my room due to the narrowness and the steepness of the stair and needed to leave part of my luggage at the entrance hall during my stay. Sorry to say but I party needed to crawl up the stair going to my room.
Outstanding location. Nice and clean as well as very comfortable bed. Great to have access to this well equipped kitchen.
