No down side

I've had the pleasure of writing reviews for La Fête au Palais before, and I am always happy to do so, because I keep going back to stay - which is probably the best way to praise this wonderful place. The owners are very charming and helpful, and the food, if you use the restaurant, always good. Breakfast is excellent, and if you are keen to try Belgian beers, then this is the hotel for you - a very wide choice indeed.

We visit La Fête au Palais at least once every year, and do so because it is such a wonderful place to stay. The views from our room were stunning, and the same is true from the restaurant. Always a warm welcome, and excellent breakfast add to the pleasure of each visit

We did not intentionally make a double booking for the restaurant (booked via tablebooker and asked via message in booking) and at no point assumed that this was received as a double booking because it was made in exactly the same name. Nevertheless I was given a very bad feeling about this and this lasted throughout the entire evening and morning upon check-out. That is a pity as we consumed quite a lot and came here for the third time. Other than that we had a perfect stay and recommend this place to our friends and family.

It was the third time that I stayed here. We walked GR 126 from Flawinne to Dinant with this location as stop midway. This time we stayed in the room with river view, and it is absolutely amazing, that view. The hosts are generally very welcoming and friendly people. They even speak Dutch and give a personal intro to the room. The on-site restaurant is excellent. Breakfast is simple but complete and more than enough. Bring your own shampoo. There is no coffee, tea in the room, but the hosts accommodate your every request and filled our thermos with tea for next day's cold winter hike.

There is simply nothing to dislike about this hotel.

From start to end our stay was excellent. We were warmly greeted on arrival and were delighted with our huge bedroom. The linen was crisp and clean. Each morning we enjoyed the beautiful buffet breakfast (and boiled eggs) cheese, meat ,cereals, croissants, jams, toast etc all washed down with teas, coffees and hot chocolate. The view over the river meuse was outstanding and the countryside stunning. We celebrated my 60th birthday and dined in the restaurant from the varied menu which was perfection. The patron and staff were amazing and he spoke English which was a huge bonus. A truly magical experience.

This has nothing to do with the property as such, but when out on the terrace a cat came and started miaowing around us, which then lead to another five cats appearing as if begging for food. We tried just ignoring them but they were very persistent, so we just had to go back inside. If you don’t like cats or are scared of them they would have been very intimidating as they had no fear. The room was warm and the hotel kindly provide an insect screen so you can have the sliding door open but with some protection, so we put it in and settled to some reading before bed. Suddenly, one of the cats knocked the screen down and was on the bed! No problem, we shooed it out but I think we have to make people aware as I have seen no other comments on reviews about this. We did not inform the owner because we don’t believe they are his cats or his fault, but maybe we should have, although what can he do? They are cats!

Room with a view. WOW!!!!! Good shower. I liked the crisp white bedding but personally need firmer beds and pillows but that’s not a complaint, just a matter of preference. The views are stunning. A terrace with table and chairs directly from your room. The room decorated nicely. Owner and all staff excellent, really friendly and welcoming. Breakfast - the croissant and breads superior, eggs offered and cooked well, homemade and local jams. I loved the location but some people might prefer to be more central - for us it was perfect. We found the whole experience wonderful.

The view from the room. Comfortable & spacious room. Excellent bar with many local, regional & Belgium beers. Fabulous food in the restaurant with up to 6 types of mussels. Excellent breakfast & coffee. Dinant, Namur & Maredsous Abbaye all easy to get to by car or bicycle.

The pizza we ordered in the afternoon was burnt but I think at that time of day the normal kitchen staff were not in and the Manager was just trying to do us a favour. The evening meal was fantastic.

Everything. Location is stunning overlooking the valley and river. Evening meal and breakfast on terrace were stunning. We were on Motorcycles and the owner offered the use of his personal secure garage which was a nice and unexpected touch.

The view from the balcony was beautiful 😍 The staff were really helpful and very friendly. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty and the view from the restaurant was beautiful. The room was spacious and clean. We ate at a great Italian restaurant in town but you can also eat at the hotel restaurant. Ample free parking.

A lovely family-run hotel. Lots of easy parking. Comfortable, spacious rooms with character on the top floor (a steep staircase to get there!). Beautiful views across the Meuse valley from the dining room and terrace. Very good food in the restaurant, though little choice of dishes for vegetarians.
