Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe staff were largely disinterested. Workmen began hammering before 8am, which is far too early, and they were working within the hotel. Toilet paper was provided in very small quantities and not replaced when the room was serviced.
Great central location. Easy walking distance to all the main attractions.

BelgiumThe 2nd night the key card did not work so we had to wait for 45 minutes until we contacted the stuff and got instructions how to get in the hotel. He could have told us in advance what to do if the key card does not work. The shower was flooded with water....really old construction.

United Statesvery old and seemed neglected. the front desk isn’t manned unless you’re checking in. the other 4-person room we booked wasn’t available so our group of 8 ended up staying in 3 different rooms on 3 different floors. upon check in, we were told the cleaning person didn’t show up. the beds felt like you could fall through the bottom. the electrical system was old and failing. our room’s light was flickering. when I plugged a charger on the wall it shut the entire room’s electricity. the bathroom in the 4-man room was dirty. the tub had a stain which I was told seemed like doodoo (we didn’t use it). the other bathrooms were ok. the floors felt dirty. the hotel’s lobby looked nice on photos but felt neglected. the walls in the other room had water stains. the electric wiring in the other room was not up to par. this property needs a good remodeling. giving it a 4/10. would be a 6 if not for the stain on the tub.
location was excellent. 5 min walk to the Grand Place. steps from shopping and train station. check-in was fine. called 15 min before. the staff was nice.

United KingdomMy arrival was terrible, I had to stand in front of a closed door for about an hour, even though I let them know when I would arrive. Nobody answered at the door or on the phone number provided. The shower was not working, there was just a normal tap. The shower head was not connected at all. And there was never anyone at the reception to ask or complain.
The room was rather big and felt cool ( it was a very warm weekend?

United StatesThere was so much noise in the morning with loud construction till 4pm and the church bells every half hour starting at 7am! We couldn’t sleep! Also at night the street noise from random drunk people outside. The room itself was ok but the bed was hard and we asked for extra pillows and toilet paper (which ran out right away) but got nothing. Luckily the utility closet was open near our room and I grabbed a roll of toilet paper.

United KingdomThere were no staff, at all. In our room, the plug in the bathroom sink didn't work, and the bathroom door didn't shut! Construction work in the building opposite started at 7am which, following a late night, was not a pleasant experience to wake up to as we couldn't close the windows due to it being very hot weather and there was no air conditioning in the room and not even a fan. Double bed was 2 single mattresses on the double base, which meant a very uncomfortable night. Stairs up to the room are spiral stairs, not sign posted so you have to guess where to go, and are very steep. Considering the state of the place, lack of staff, and no breakfast option, the cost is ridiculous!!
Location was alright, fairly central. Pretty lobby.

Very big room in what seems to be a converted old house that has a lot of charcter. About 4 minutes walk from Metro and 10 minutes from Grand Place. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby and staff were very nice.

CanadaWooden windows can't be closed. Serious water leaking after raining and caused water soaked under bed which made the room humid and smelt mould! Not even a tooth brushing cup nor a chair in the room. Mattress of bed sagged badly and hurts the back.

NetherlandsThere was no window in the room that would look outside of the building. There was only an "internal window" that looked into the corridor and it was impossible to open it. There were no curtains, only a feeble duct tape on the glass of the window. The light in the corridor was *constantly on* and it was impossible to have a good sleep. A horrible situation. There are constant constructions works in the hotel so there was a very intense noise till 20.00 - it would be impossible to work in the hours before that, because of that noise. The wooden bed was of some 60-70 years old at least. The mattresses were not comfortable, the pillows were not of the same size and were rather bad. There were no normal big mirror in the room - only a small mirror in the bathroom. There was no any normal chair in the room - no chair at all, just a very small padded stool without any backrest.
The positive side: good location, very friendly staff.

United Kingdomlocked myself out of the room at 1AM and the emergency phone number they provided with was not available and had to spend the whole night outside. at 9AM a residential guy gave me a number (different from the emergency number) where i was able to reach the manager. i asked for a refund but both the hotel and booking.com ignored my messages and calls, booking.com even hung up the phone on me once. after more than a month i managed to get a 50% refund but for this nightmare it should've been 100% + other compensations. by not providing with an emergency phone number, this hotel CLEARLY breaks the law, and booking.com knows this very well and still lets them advertise their horrendous "service" on the platform. ridiculous.
booked it because it was in the centre and the price seemed fair, i knew that it's not fancy but i planned to stay the whole day outside, just wanted to sleep there
