Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe room (nr. 1) was located on the ground floor, near the store room. There was a party going in the restaurant, and the stuff was busy retreiving things from the store room, with the store room door slamming the whole evening. Because of that we couldn't hear the TV. The sound was very soft and couldn't be adjusted. The TV had only one channel available. The stuff member tried to solve this TV-problem for us, but failed. Because of the party, we could not dine in the restaurant.
The room was OK, very clean, a nice comfy bed. The window could be opened. Beautiful surroundings. Close to the Bruggs center, if going by car or (e-)bicycle

SpainWe arrived late, with babies. Nobody there to help. Rooms freezing cold. Even the carpet was ice. Only 1 key per room and if you need to leave and your mate is busy somehow you can't get in the room as the light AND the heater work with it. No way of getting warm water for the baby's bottle. The blankets smell weird. It took hours to warm the room but still the bathroom felt like Arendel. There's a strong nasty pipe smell everywhere. They say breakfast from 8 to 10 BUT at 10 they begin to take things away and you have to hurry if you want to get something. We were there at 9.35. At 9.50 there wasn't any bacon left, ask for a little and the woman there tried not to cook it because it was " almost 10". And at 10 cereals, bread, eggs chocolate.. everything began to be taken to the kitchen by the 2 rude people there. A shame that cost me 390 euros 2 rooms, 5 people,1 night.
Breakfast was quite decent although the 2 people there were eager to see us leave. And the swan in the pond I wouldn't recommend it at all

NetherlandsWe got room number 1, and I have stayed in hostels before too- this room was worse than that. I am not sure if we got this horrible room because we arrived with doggy, but it was so bad I even felt bad for letting him sleep there. If we would come without pet, we would never accept this room and only stayed for one night. First of all, the room smelled SO disgusting (like toilet/ pipes) right after you open the door I cannot believe they let guests sleep there. We had to stay there only with open windows. The bathroom was dirty, shower cabin was full of hair and mold. Definetely not worth the price (but again I do not know about other rooms). We were definetely not happy, and would not rate this hotel (based on our room solely) 3*
The brekafast was cozy and the area of the hotel is beautiful.

United KingdomThis hotel has no reception at night time, Very poor bedding and very loud music at the property hall whole night we could not sleep and neither our children could sleep due to music noise downstairs from a party and when trying to call receptionist there is no reply from reception. Me and my families along with children could not sleep whole night and there is no help from hotel as there is no one at reception at night time. Water in bathroom is very bad as we were on 2nd floor and due to lack of water pressure if someone downstairs open the water then there was no water in our bathroom. Water suddenly disappeared. The worse hotel ever and we would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Garden and foundation was good at property.

SpainEverything perfect!
We loved this place, it’s perfect if you travel with car to Brugge! The room was recently renovated and the castle and its garden is very beautiful, breakfast was great too. We travelled with a dog and there is a nice walk around the property and also a natural park close by which was fantastic! Highly recommend!

PolandVery noisy place on the main street with cars driving all night and all day. The place should be advertised as a wedding house and not a hotel - every evening and night noisy drunk guests shouting and slamming doors in the hotel until 5 o'clock in the morning. Every day cold water in the bathroom - fixed after reporting to the reception. Old smell in the room. Maybe during the week the place is nice - on the weekend it's definitely not. I was very disappointed.

IrelandAll of it.
No tea, or coffee in the room. But that said there was nothing no bar no food and we got back at nine o'clock. Only plus nice view, pretty good breakfast. But it's geared up for functions. When we arrived we ask about, the bar to get a drink. Funeral was on so go outside. Lucky it was not raining.

NetherlandsThis hotel has many issues and I don't recommend at all. The room was claimed as suit. But that was actually only a room with a little extension. The room had no air co, no water cooker or coffee maker, no tea or coffee bag, no iron, etc. and yet we paid a lot. The room was very old in a way that if someone walks in the corridor, the whole floor was shaking. Someone was walking on the top floor in the middle of the night and the whole ceiling was shaking with making a lot of noise of the metal hang lamp. The pillow and quality of the bed was awful. The worst part was, the guests for the wedding menu in the garden. They (children) were making noise by screaming, shouting and playing in the back yard venue, until 3 a.m and we couldn't sleep. Tried to call the reception to make them quiet. Turned out the phone doesn't work. Needed to go downstairs by myself and tell the issue to the receptionist. Guess what she told me. "That is not my problem". And I mentioned "my wife is pregnant" and she said, "yeaaaaa, it is not like it is a disease". Very rude and offensive lady. The first ever experience of that rude staff lady.
The view of the hotel was very nice. The location was also quiet OK and not far from the city center.

GreeceTHE ROOM WAS UNLEANED, FULL OF DUST AND DIRTY CARPETS. THERE WASN'T SOMEONE AT THE RECEPTION 24/7, WHICH IS A PROBLEM FOR A CUSTOMER IF HE NEEDS TO CHECK OUT, OR IF HE NEEDS A MEDICAL HELP THE NIGHT TIME, OR IF HE NEEDS A TAXI.
I LIKED THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD

United StatesWhere to start? The sink didn’t drain, could hear everything going on in other rooms, staff rarely available, it’s not a castle so much as an old house, front doors inaccessible, no bartender mostly, one window screen for four windows - broken and stuck at n corner of our room, not enough lighting to see anything in our fun front room, breakfast was ok
Gardens were nice.

United KingdomHuge hotel but we arrived to find only one car in the car park and the place looked deserted. There was a notice on the door asking people to go round the back as there was a door open there. We found the key to our room on a piece of paper with our name on laying on a table along with four other keys. Also some printed information etc. Didn’t see a single member of staff until breakfast the next morning. It was an excellent breakfast. After breakfast we spent about ten minutes trying to locate a member of staff so that we could pay the bill!
Breakfast was excellent
