Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe rooms are not very big, they look bigger in the photos however that didn’t take away from our experience
Loved staying in this cute stylish boutique hotel, we only stayed one night and we were out for most of the day exploring Gent. The hotel is designed tastefully and very warm! Loved all the little details and charm. There’s a restaurant which we weren’t able to eat at because it was full but would love to experience next time!

BelgiumThe fact that I didn't see a single staff member during a 2-night stay is a bit odd. I understand that it's cheaper with self check-in and check-out, but it doesn't really feel like a hotel when there's no other service than the room. No room service, no receptionist to ask for advice or questions, no restaurant, no bar... (There technically is a restaurant that looks great, but for some reason it was not open while I was there...) I also booked a "suite", which was essentially a slightly larger room with a corner seating arrangement. And no mini bar in the room, so if I want a drink or a snack after I get back late in the evening I'll have to find that myself somewhere. Essentially, I would rather this was called a lux B&B, it would feel more honest to the guests. The moniker of "hotel" implies there is an added level of service which was not available here.
Nice room, very clean and nice design. Comfortable bed and spacious.

NetherlandsSelf check in was not clear. There was no staff. Parking in Gent is a nightmare! More attention to this would be good when you arrive in late evening and need to find a legal parking spot.
Nice modern styled room with cosy ambiance. Everything you need. Good area in historic city, but quiet street.

United KingdomIt's a self check in service - so it took us a moment or two to figure out where we were meant to go and what we were meant to do. But we got there in the end. Instructions were clear (in hindsight)! A low beam above the bed meant we had to be careful manouvering in the dark .. The lighting in the room could be improved and it was a little tricky working out what switch turned which light on!
This was a lovely little boutique room in a nice location. The room was very nicely decorated. The bed was comfy and the room was quiet. It's close to the tram if needed, but only a short walk into the centre of Ghent.

BelgiumThe room was pretty clean, but the cleaning crew missed some details I'm afraid. It wasn't a dealbreaker at all though!
The building itself is very charming, I love how it looks like a little hideout from the big city. The room itself was lovely: the lights, the colors, the design.. Every aspect of the room really contributes to this romantic, mysterious vibe which I personally love! Last but not least, the room smells amazing.

CanadaThe bathroom had a window right in front of the toilet. For people who are private that might be an issue. We have not seen any staff during checking-in. I think it would have been nice to interact.

United KingdomLack of reception attendance at check in and during our 4 day stay. However the hotel advised that they are aware of this and are working to change this.
Perfect location, comfortable bed, good shower. Well designed room though the wardrobe area could do with a light.

United KingdomThis is a new hotel, and just lacks a few small details. We didn’t see a single member of staff our entire stay, which wasn’t necessarily an issue, but the check in instructions say that there are staff Wednesday - Saturday - We didn’t meet a single person in our 4 day stay, so it was more like an Airbnb. The room lacked a few basic necessities, there was no form of towel rail or hook even to hang wet towels on. We had two rooms, and room 4 had no door on the bathroom at all. You had to shut the curtains to use the toilet as the windows across the road looked directly in on the toilet with no door. It felt like it would be really easy to put a door there ! The cleaning left a little to be desired, no bin bags in the bins, bins not emptied, and the floor could have done with a hoover. The cleaners came in and left fresh towels but didn’t take the old ones away or empty the bins etc. Overall the decor and the hotel were lovely but I think a few basic changes would make this hotel amazing.
Location was great, a short walk to the city centre with access to all the city’s sights. Rooms were very modern and newly renovated, and the interior design throughout was amazing. The hotel also had an amazing smell in all the corridors. Breakfast was self serve, but was more than sufficient for us, plenty of yoghurt, milk, fruit, cereals, coffee etc.

NorwayWe found stray hairs, but otherwise the cleaning was good.
It was a really beautiful and big room! We read some reviews before we left, and we could see that the hotel had done things to improve. In our room we had a toilet in its own room and they have gotten a towel rack :) The location is really good, but it is still quiet. We didn't need to talk to any staff, and the check in and check out was done on a digitally. Very smooth!
