Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI was generally very happy with my stay at the Hotel orion and nothing antagonised me enough to complain. I would gladly stay here again when visiting Ghent.
I stayed at the hotel Orion in April and was impressed very big spacious room and lovely shower and set in a lovely up market area. The woman on reception who greeted me was warm and helpful also.

United KingdomThe layout of the room was rather odd with an open shower at one end of the room, a sink in the bedroom and a separate toilet at the other side of the room. The separate toilet had a sink but no soap, which was disappointing. The coffee cups provided were tiny......hardly worth the effort. No public transport options were suggested for getting into the city, we were told to walk....options should be offered! The room was also rather dull and dark.
Parking, Tea and Coffee making, shower.

United KingdomEverything exceeded our expectations. So can't think of anything to complain.
We recently enjoyed a stay at Hotel Orion Gent with our family. The staff was incredibly responsive, promptly answering any questions we had before and during our visit. The hotel's location in the Krijgslaan area offered a peaceful residential setting while remaining close to the city center and Ghent's St. Peter's Railway Station. Trams and buses were readily available, making it easy to explore the heart of Ghent. We enjoyed both tram rides (lines 3 and 4) and walks into town. Our family room on the ground floor comfortably accommodated all four of us. We were delighted to find a well-equipped kitchenette with a hob, fridge, microwave, pans, cutlery, and crockery. This provided the perfect solution for preparing meals and snacks at our convenience. The small dining table and sofas created a comfortable space to share meals and play games. The long side table offered valuable extra surface area, a thoughtful touch in a hotel room. Essential amenities like toiletries, a hairdryer, and a safe were all provided. Hotel Orion Gent caters beautifully to families. Our daughter was particularly charmed by Tombie, the resident parrot. The indoor pool was a guaranteed hit with the kids, and we all appreciated the sauna as a potential relaxation option after exploring Ghent. While we didn't get the chance to use the sauna due to timing, it was a welcome amenity. The breakfast buffet was delicious, offering a wide variety to satisfy both adults and children. The hotel staff truly deserve special recognition. Their kindness and helpfulness went above and beyond. An elderly receptionist, in particular, made us feel incredibly welcome with her sweet nature. She even went the extra mile to find an adapter for us when our own wouldn't work. Her patience and detailed explanations about reaching the city center using trams were invaluable.

United KingdomNothing. The pool and the gym were a bit basic but that was all.
I booked the room to be close to 't Kuipke to visit the start of Omloop het Nieuwsblad and I cycled this sportive myself on Sunday. The location was excellent for 't Kuipke.

It is an extremely pretty property with big rooms. We stayed in the room suitable for 3 adults and the hotel staff was kind enough to provide us baby cot as well. The staff is very helpful and the property has ample parking space and is located in a good area - only 15 min from Centrum. Highly recommend this place!

BelgiumThere was a bit of confusion about the use/reservation system of the pool. Just beware you might need to reserve a slot if you want to use the spa. Nothing to do with the hotel but good: the Hotel is in a fancy part of Ghent behind the Sint-Pieters Station, the nearby area is pretty cool but walking to the center might feel a bit far for some (30-40 min) and there isn't that much interesting on the way into the center, so the walk can also start feeling a bit boring. If you don't feel like walking loads I would recommend taking a taxi
the family room is enormous, definitely recommend it if you appreciate staying away at arm's length from your fellow travelers. An easy and cheap taxi ride away from the city center and plenty of parking on site. Everything was great and above our expectations.

BelgiumWe ordered a Chinese from the takeaway down the road. It was terrible. Don't do that.
Amazing breakfast and hospitality. Absolutely loved the art-deco furnishings and design...so genuinely natural. Incredibly peaceful location....didn't hear any noise from street, cars or fireworks (we were staying on New Year Eve). Can't wait to visit again.

It is conveniently positioned for travellers looking for a short stay (private car park on site) with good public transport links to local places. We will return here in the future. Thank you.

United KingdomHonest opinion is that everything was provided or available from the staff so cannot find any faults.
Room was clean and large with everything you needed, including a huge very comfortable bed. The buffet breakfast was good, nicely presented with hot and cold on offer, very attentive staff on hand if you needed anything. The pool was small but very warm and getting your own private one hour slot worked well.
