How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There was very little air circulation and it felt stuffy most of the time. The windows did tilt back but gave very little relief. I imagine a summer stay would be uncomfortable without a fan. The wooden chairs were very uncomfortable and there could have been better light over the table. The best lighting was in the new bathroom.
The location was great with lots of room. Using Brussels Centraal as the closest station, it was only 2 stops and then a short walk. The house was down a small alleyway secured by a locked gate so it was safe and quiet. Bernard provided lots of conveniences so you can prepare quick meals using the microwave. There is also a hot pot, toaster, coffee maker and refrigerator. Lots of restaurants close by and a Carrefour Express food store on the plaza by the metro station + also outside Centraal station.

The toilette being outside the room was not ideal but it wasn’t too bad either. It was for our exclusive use and there was no one in the hallway.
I need a comfortable bed and a dark room to sleep in. Bernard’s place had this and also a clean and spacious bathroom.

The room was surprisingly well-equipped and cosy. Bernard was very kind and helpful. We had a great time visiting our son who lives nearby. The toilet being outside the room was the only downside, but as there was a fridge and microwave in the bathroom, it was unavoidable really!

Walking distance to city center. Quiet area, still with a lot of restaurants, but without all the tourists. Very nice apartment, great host, very comfortable bed and nice duvet, very quiet. We recommend this place

Nothing at all. Everything was absolutely perfect.

The location was fantastic, wi-fi was super good as well as the bathroom. The room is extremely quiet yet very central at the same time. The room had everything we needed - the bed was comfortable, there were amenities such as coffee, kitchen equipment, a microwave and mini refrigerator. Bernard the host is super warm and friendly, and has made an excellent list of suggestions to eat and places to visit around Brussels. It is a beautiful place to stay while visiting Brussels

The accomodation is located in a very nice area. The check in was very easy, although we arrived late in the evening. The room was very beautiful furnished and very well equipped. We were completely satisfied with our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay, so I don't really have anything to complain about. If we would be staying longer than 10 days, the room would maybe be a bit small, but this way it was everything we needed.
The apartment is located in the Brussels center and is surrounded by restaurants, cafes, and shops. It had everything we needed (a bed, a closet, lovely bathroom) and is perfect for short journeys. Bernard, the owner, was most helpful (with sending us suggestions via google maps, helping with our questions). He was really thinking of everything: the bathroom had tissues, shower gel, and shampoo, the room was equipt with coffee, biscuits, water and he even left an umbrella and masks for us in the hallway. And at the same time, he left us our space (we only saw him when we arrive and when we were leaving). My partner really enjoyed that it was really quiet for a central location (the entrance is from an inner courtyard) and that Metro/tram stations were only 5min walking distance.

For me the square pillows were pretty uncomfortable and I could not get a decent cup of coffee out of the coffee machine, if you put the pad in what came out was almost clear. Might be good to put tips next to the machine (in case I missed something) or just get another one.
Great location, good sized and well appointed room, plenty of privacy and independence, and I really appreciated the local tips from Bernard.
