Been a long night with pounding techno music from the neighbourhood for the whole night. The shower also was way too hot and it wasn't possible to cool it down. When we told the staff, they reacted quite indifferent. Wasn't billed yet, but apparantly the water and coffee in the room was quite expensive as well.

Personally for us the location wasn’t great. It was SO loud at night. People yelling, taxis beeping - you need to pack earbuds or the hotel should offer these. The bed was also incredibly firm and not comfortable. Again, these are all personal preferences but we wouldn’t stay here for these reasons.

Relatively spacious rooms, complimentary bottle of wine, friendly staff. If you want to be smack bang in the middle of the city near bars, clubs and restaurants it’s a good location.

Lights in the room didn't work which was disappointing at the price - we couldn't really use the seat in the corner as a result as it was dark. The room is really very simple/minimalist in style & didn't feel that luxurious.

It's located in a street with different bars which causes a lot of noise at night. The beds were very uncomfortable. Woke up from pain in my hip, back and neck.

No warning about major, very noisy roadwork right under our room. No earplugs as a gesture or a small token of appreciation for having to put up with this extremely loud noise. We never saw any staff, neither upon check-in or check-out. The restaurant and the cafe next door were closed. Had to walk quite a distance to find a place for breakfast. A request for a discount was refused. If we had known about this we would never have stayed there. I have stayed at other places where house renovation or street work was being done, this can happen… and there was always either a warning, a discount or a small token of appreciation for the inconvenience. None of this at Hotel Riga. Will never stay there again.

I booked a room with a bath, but the room was very cold and it is not possible to control the temperature of the room. They do it from the reception.. Also note that the hotel does not provide slippers, despite the fact that the room has a stone floor. Also, the room was located at the entrance to the building and every time you could hear someone coming in and out, it was difficult to sleep.

The room was a bit empty, not very cozy, not a lot but f extra furniture or art on the wall, but maybe that was the style. A couple of lights in the room were not working. Also the music device was not working

It was a perfect location, the hotel had a very nice ambiance and a nice restaurant. The bathroom amenities were also very nice smelling! The staff was very friendly.

Very uncomfortable bed and pillows. Nowhere to put clothes or suitcases, there were only 8 hangers on a freestanging rack, no drawers or wardrobe even though there was plenty of space. No shelves in shower for soap or sponges. Basic hotel with an expensive price tag.

the location - even though located close to the Grote Markt (which might be seen as a positive aspect for some), it is also located on the street with many bars so at night it gets very noisy. and unfortunately, you can hear everything:(

Extremely noisy!!! It was like there were no windows at all…. We could hear everything soooo loud. Really really bad…. Also the curtains are terrible… no darkness in the room AT ALL

Be aware when booking: there is no one on reception between 9pm-9am. We were not able to get an iron for our clothes. My shower was also unclean, with lots of long hair (not mine) on the walls.

The staff were pretty clueless, they couldn’t quite keep track of our rooms which meant my parents who were staying in another room and had to check out and check back in again due to the second night being a separate booking, had to coach the staff on the front desk of the plan they themselves had made. Additionally, they advertise the restaurant quite heavily but when my parents went down there to order a pre-dinner cocktail there was a member of staff working the first night of our stay who was the “cocktail man” who took my fathers order and then spent the next 15mins “chatting” to other dinners and not making the fairly simple cocktails meaning we had to walk out without them due to our dinner booking. It seemed like he was using the restaurant as his social club rather than seeing to guests. We didn’t go in the restaurant to eat or drink at all after that.

The property was well located and stylish. The bathroom was very good and the room itself was spacious.

The worst thing ever was the continues smashing of the doors, and subsequently the noise that you can hear from the room upstairs. Regarding the doors - we stayed in the structure in the back, reachable via the little courtyard. To access the courtyard and subsequently the room, there are 3 doors. ALL the doors are closing with a horrendous BANG that make you sit up straight in your bed every few minutes - despite our normally very efficient earplugs. Not only hotel guests but also other people have access to the courtyard (if I understood well, residents). This resulted in a banging of doors during the late afternoon roughly every 7/8 minutes and made it impossible to get some rest. Obviously this repeated the next morning. Such a simple solution to fix I believe. It completely ruined our stay, and we left with a massive headache. I strongly suggest not to book this hotel, unless you are assured that they have fixed this problem. We have stayed in hotels before with bad sound insulation but this was an absolute nightmare. Real shame cause the hotel itself is lovely!

Location was perfect and the hotel is really nicely designed. The room we stayed in (nr 11) was very spacious and beautiful. Would easily book this hotel again if they will fix the horrible noise.

During the weekend, don’t book a room because you will be very bothered by the noise from the nightlife crowd until 5 o'clock in the morning.
