Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLovely hotel with original features, just a 5 minute walk from the market square. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again next time we're in Bruges.

United KingdomI had to think a lot about any negatives of the property. The only one I could think of is that the soundproofing wasn’t the best. You could hear mumbling when people in the hallway or in the next room were talking.
The property has a very modern/rustic style, resembling almost a castle. The rooms were very nicely decorated, had sufficient room, a lovely view and the hotel provided a few necessities that was quite nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was exceptional, vegetarian friendly and probably one of the best we’ve ever had at a hotel. Location was very near the centre located in a quiet but pretty area of Brugge.

United KingdomCharming hotel, well decorated, quiet and away from the busy streets of Bruges. The city center is just 7 min away by walk, so ideal to walk around easily. We really enjoyed the comfortable room with a view on the canal.

United KingdomDue to the heritage nature of the building expect creaks and bits of noise, but nothing significant. Long stay Car parks are some walk from the hotel, roadside parking available outside the hotel.
Lovely historical building situated along one of the central canal’s. Good access into the centre of Bruges. Nice bar and lounge area.

IrelandHotel is so beautiful, I love the fact that it's located in such an old beautiful building. I loved the room, the vintage details, looks absolutely gorgeous. Also I loved the Rituals cosmetics shower gel and other toiletries, it was a pleasant surprise, because it's my favourite cosmetics. The breakfast was great and the fact that the swans came to the window added up even more to the romantic atmosphere of the hotel. Staff was absolutely friendly and made me feel like I'm at home.

MacaoAll members of staff were very hospitable. Breakfast was plentiful & the location was a great starting point for walks into the centre. Rooms were ample & whilst bathrooms were a decent size, introduction of a “wet room” with a walk-in shower would have been better than the bath, whilst understanding a bath is in character with the property.

United KingdomA bit creaky at night, but it's a 500 year old building so understandable. Breakfast was a bit on the pricey side at 20 euros each.

United KingdomThe faded fake flowers around the door and in the window boxes!
Beautiful old building with heaps of character. It felt like we were staying in a grand old house rather than a hotel we loved the furnishings. Front of house were so friendly and helpful.

United KingdomWould definitely suggest installing showers. I appreciate it is a listed building and this might be difficult, but think it would make a big difference as it did add time on getting ready when we’d or preferred to be out and about exploring. Also strict rule to not take any food with you from breakfast or you will be fined £20, strange imposition and comes across snobby.
We had the loveliest stay. Beautiful room, regularly replenished toiletries, comfortable beds, and the hotel despite being a 5 minute walk from the Market Square is still quiet, chilled and peaceful which was the perfect balance. Staff were very accommodating and helpful too.

United StatesWe loved absolutely everything.
Hotel Ter Brughe felt like we were staying in a fairytale. The staff was incredible, the location was perfect, the rooms made us feel like royalty. This hotel managed to feel both cozy and upscale. My family and I would stay here over and over again. Already trying to plan another trip, it was that magical. Very quick walk to downtown Brughe. This hotel had the best hot chocolate I have ever had in my life, the staff made it for us every night. This place is the best!

IndiaOur only challenge was the steep steps which was scary and dangerous for non residents of Amsterdam not recommended for elderly people. But Roland was kind to help us with our luggage .
Roland was lovely prompt and very helpful! He attended to all our questions patiently and was very friendly. The location just by the canal so the view from the room was fabulous. The room was cleaned everyday and well maintained.

Qatarthe room was not well vacuumed as well for the second day, in the evening Ella from reception assisted to clean by herself and she was amazing
location is very central, the hotel is cute, the room conditions were not that much good as the window glass was broken, one of the heater which was in front of the window not working, sockets on the bedside was not working, the water pressure was not strong enough for me to take a shower although we paid for the room with view and we couldn’t enjoy with it. Ella from reception was exceptionally helpful and very professional, she was superb efficient with her actions to assist and to try solving problems. Thank you very much Ella for all you did.

United KingdomNothing! It was perfect for our needs however, less able visitors would find the stairs difficult (there is no lift)
Hotel Ter Brughe is an old style building, full of character and the rooms and shared spaces are all decorated in a boutique style. It’s position is a quiet neighbourhood which is just outside the centre of Bruges, though still well within a few minutes of restaurants and bars.

United KingdomLeaving! 🥺
Like something out of a fairytale! Everything about our stay was perfect. The hotel was stunning, with the most comfortable bed I've slept in. We travel a lot, and beds are always a bone of contention. The room was huge. Lots of storage space. Perfect temperature. Good lighting. Very good coffee. The staff couldn't do enough for us and were always smiling. Our view of the canal was amazing. The bridge looked so pretty at night. Would definitely stay here again if we visited Bruges, and we are already recommending it to friends and family.

IsraelThe only thing we didn’t like was that when we asked for another blanket we were required €20 for that. It is so simple and easy request and of course it should be for free.
It was soooo beautiful and nice apartment, just like in the photos! Very comfortable and cozy. It was so nice to sit at the table and look through the window at the roofs of the beautiful buildings…

Stunning authentic style! Absolutely loved the decor , some may say dated but it’s dated with style! The staff are so helpful and welcoming and the location is just perfect for a 5 minute walk into the beautiful centre. We wanted to stay another night last minute so the staff made it happen and upgraded our room to a canal view for the same price! Breakfast was delicious and so many choices to choose from! I will 10/10 be staying here again!
