Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe were given a split level room on top floor. My partner slipped and was cut and bruised on the polished wooden steps between the floors. I made the hotel aware of this by email to make them aware of the hazard but did not get a response.
Used this hotel many times. Convenient stop over between UK and Italy

United KingdomMy bedroom (living room area) had a faulty light and was in darkness. The room was painted blood red, which is an unusual choice and I found a bit ominous. The shower/bath lacked a screen and water went everywhere Value for money- I spent 200E on a room and breakfast. I am used to paying that money but don’t think this hotel was worth it. I stayed in a hotel for 100E a few days later, which had better features and was decorated better.
It had Tesla superchargers and lots of amenities. It was a clean hotel. Really helpful staff!

United StatesThe only comment would be that I had to search high and low to figure out how to turn off the main room lights. The switch was behind the desk! Some instructions, or actually linking the room lights to the switches by the bed/doors would be really helpful.
Very comfortable and well appointed room. Excellent food and great staff. I would highly recommend this hotel.

NetherlandsWe booked a Junior suite, which is promoted as a 50 m2 room at Booking.com. The room was 30 m2, and very much like a standard hotel room. It can not be called a junior suite! Outside the hotel at the parking lot it was set up a huge tent, where they played loud disco music until midnight. Impossible to sleep. We should have stayed 2 nights, but left in the morning after one night. Very bad experience.
The restaurant was very good.

BelgiumWay too many issues. Wifi - weak, had to use my phone subscription data to get my PC connected to the net; Hairdryer - broke down during usage; Coffee machine - broken; Spa - no one picks the phone if you would like to make an appointment for a treatment, also only one person works there. Spa facilities - small sauna and hammam, relax area with four beds; Pool - not working / closed; Towels in the room - you had to call to have them brought to your room;
The reception staff and the food in the restaurant were a "breath of fresh air".

BelgiumThis was the second time we stayed in the hotel (last time in January of this year). Our first stay was excellent, our last stay was very chaotic. Rooms were obviously still fine (excellent) and staff at the reception was friendly and helpful. But the thing that disturbed our party of 6, was the fact that Corona did not seem to exist? Following the rules, we booked two tables (max of 4 people at the same table), but in the restaurant, we saw parties of 5, 6, even 10 people, all sitting at the same table (kissing and hugging, even the band that played on Saturday, joined in the kissing and hugging). The service in the restaurant was horrible. It took ages to get our order right and ages to get things delivered. When it started raining, we were moved inside, and we were not the only ones (again, against all rules, people were eating - not only drinks, but full meals). Next to that, a lot of the staff, handling the drinks at the bar, weren't even wearing masks at all. On the second day, we had to point out that half of what was on our bill, was not even ordered by us. The waiter that handled this was very professional and apologized, but the people who entered everything, should really have more attention to detail. Friendly as we were, we pointed out the mistakes and paid 50+€ extra because of the stuff we ordered (that was not on the bill and had to be added). When leaving, the reception hall looked like the entrance of a night club. No distance, everyone wanting to enter the restaurant at the same time. This was not a pleasant stay, and we won't be coming back soon. This is not a regular Van der Valk experience. I know these are tough times, but some of the things I mentioned are really easy to handle.
