How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Nothing springs to mind. Rooms on higher floors could be a little noisy but not an issue for us,

€250 deposit taken on day of arrival was unexpected. Settled bill on checking out separately and deposit wasn't refunded until over a week later

The comments about this hotel and staff have been made on previous reviews. I thought that the comment can’t be true as they were good, but after visiting I can honestly say they are true in every sense. This hotel is absolutely fantastic, the hotel access and location; the facilities and the room we had; and above all the staff should all be congratulated on their professionalism and hard work. Prices of food including breakfast which was around €29 if you decided you wanted breakfast that morning with an additional €7.50 charge to bring up to the room. Room service should really be an included part of a hotel stay.
Friendly staff and a great hotel bar. Rooms felt nice and modern and we had a terrace with a great view.

Absolutely loved our stay here. Fantastic location in walking distance to all major sites with plenty of local bars and restaurants. The bar and restaurant were great to hang out in and have a cocktail. Definitely need to make reservations for dinner. Parking under the hotel with plenty of spaces. The room and the whole hotel were spotlessly clean with quirky design features that made it a unique experience. Would always stay here if we are in Gent again - loved it.

Cosy room which is nicely decorated and with a great view. A lot of choice at the breakfast buffet. The hotel offers parking and there are also public parking garages nearby.

Great hotel to visit Ghent, excellent location in the center close to everything, super friendly staff, very nice bar and restaurant with a cool vibe, parking at the hotel is a real plus given the parking situation in Ghent

Only a couple of tiny things that could be improved, mainly the fact that our cups and glasses weren't swapped for clean ones and our bin wasn't emptied when the maid came in to make the bed on our second day. The tea and coffee options in the room were also limited, but sufficient. But that's pretty much the only thing that could have been improved so that's very good going!
Gorgeous hotel with lovely staff. The room was beautifully designed with great attention to detail. Nice variable lighting and the toiletries smelt divine, so much so that I purchased some to take home! The bed was very comfortable and bathrobes were available on request, which we did as the towels were a bit in the tiny side! The guide booklet provided by the hotel in the room was also really useful and another lovely touch.

The price is a bit steep for what you get. In the Belgian capital I can get into a 5 star hotel for 260€ per night; there was nothing wrong with the hotel per se, I had a good time, but 5 stars it was not.
Very friendly and forthcoming staff coupled with modern, upscale hotel vibes! The hotel is nice and central, the breakfast is varied and of high quality, and the rooms are clean and very modern.

The hotel has a great location - very close to the main attractions. The room was quite big, offering more than enough space. We did not have breakfast there, but dinner was extremely tasty (the cocktails, too). Quite full in the evening, so better reserve a table before - especially in the weekend.

The location of the hotel was central and allowed us to walk everywhere. The hotel food was sensational and the bed in our room felt like sleeping on a cloud! If we come back to Ghent, we will definitely choose your hotel again!
