Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdom- No hot water for showers across 3 days - Bolivian exchange rate seemed unfair (Room is booked in dollars, and the rate we were given was c.12% higher than expected when booking) - maybe pay in dollars if you can
- Amazing views and great location. Short walk to town & restaurants and views over the lake - Super friendly hosts, happy to help - Breakfast / Dinner in the room with amazing views was a real treat

ChinaThe solar powered hot water is just lukewarm; barely tolerable.
The Location is fantastic: on the mountain ridge overlooking the lake. The room is new and comfortable with very spacious bathroom. In addition, The breakfast, rather plain, is served at your room. One can sip coffee while enjoy the lake view.

FranceConversion rate to bolivianos was quite unfavourable (~8-9% higher vs. official rate), so better to pay in USD. And only cash is accepted: make sure you have enough before getting onto the island. Overall, this hotel is still a great deal!
Awesome place on Isla del Sol. The owners are super friendly and accomodating, the view from the rooms is incredible. There is hot shower, wifi and the beds are very comfortable. I would definitely go back to Campo Santo!

SpainJust a couple of things, more as a suggestion for the owner, otherwise I totally recommend anyone travelling to go and stay here! - It could be better signalled. I found it thanks to google maps because I have a Bolivian SIM card, but it wouldn't hurt to send some direction when someone books, or to put a signal on the property. Even when I was right in front of it I wasn't sure I was in the right place. - Prices: dinner is a bit too expensive (the island itself is, but with the same price in the restaurants they give you a full menu, here only one dish and considering you don't have choice it's a bit unfair. Same goes with bottled water, you can just find it half price in the village). Finally, some advice for people travelling alone: - Not sure it's the right place for someone travelling alone, I guess it depends on budget and desire to meet other people. The price just simply stays the same whether you're alone or with someone. I don't pretend half the price, but it's not right to pay exactly the same, they should adjust their rates. Also, the property is 20 mins away from the village, it would be quite hard to walk back at night (no streets, just a narrow path in the nature) so you're forced to have dinner in the facility, just keep it in mind. There is no common room or at least I wasn't informed of it, so you can only stay in your room (they take your meals there), it's hard to get to meet other people.
The place was beautiful, the room very big, with big windows overlooking the lake, very beautiful views. The bed was comfortable and warm, the shower was hot and nice, they also provide towels and some generic hand soap that is always nice to find when you travel around. The people working there were extremely nice and helpful, I would have stayed a week there with them. The wifi was good too. It was somehow difficult to get the password for the network that had better signal in my room, but in the end and after some totally avoidable hours of panic (it's important for me because I work while I travel), I got it and it worked pretty well. A very relaxing and quiet place, totally recommended.

United KingdomI was ready to give a vibrant 5 stars review, until came the moment to pay. The booking we made was in dollars, but we only had local money (bolivianos) to pay, which happens all the time in Latin America. However, instead of giving us something close to the real exchange rate, which was 6.9 at the time according to Google, they gave us a made-up exchange rate: 8.5 ! Never has the boliviano had such a price against the dollar, you can check online. As a result, they asked for +12.5% more than what we expected to pay. While scams on the exchange rate unfortunately happen fairly often in South America, what we really didn't appreciate was the lack of transparency. First, because we'd messaged in advance to ask what the exchange rate would be, and they left the message unanswered (while asking about our arrival time). Now we understand why... It's fine to have a variable rate, but let it be clear. Second, because we overheard the owner discuss with a nearby shopkeeper what the new exchange rate should be. He did it right in front of us, suddenly whispering. We can hear you, and we understand Spanish! It just looks like they are colluding to charge tourists a made-up exchange rate... In the end, we gave whatever dollars we had and paid the rest in bolivianos to limit our exposure to the bad rate, and they were kind enough to agree. It's really a shame because it's a great place to stay, but that experience left a bitter after-taste. So if you are looking to stay, come with dollars to pay for the accomodation, and bolivianos to pay for the meals.
The hotel is really lovely, our room was super spacious, the shower was hot, and we had a nice view on the lake.
