Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIt felt very unclean and tired. I had a private room and the bathroom drain smelt, the bedding was very old and it just felt yucky. It’s also VERY noisy, I could hear everything going on upstairs and in the rooms nearby. The noise travels through corridors and up and down the stairs. The front desk staff were very average - when I checked in they explained very little to me. I asked one of the guys which company they partnered with for the death road experience and he had no idea.
Excellent location, awesome light filled rooftop with amazing views. Nice breakfast

There is a nice tarrace on the last floor with a city view and billard, different games. I enjoyed the breakfast on the morning. The bed was comfortable with electric sockets next to it. Friendly staff, the hostel is well located just next to the centre of La Paz.

United KingdomThe shared bathrooms left a lot to be desired, with toilets often out of order. Lots of stairs to get to the rooms which is tiring at altitude. I had some very noisy (watching tiktok and making video calls late at night) and unclean roommates and the dormitory was a bit too small, so it became quite unpleasant by the end. This is not the fault of the hostel though, but in a larger room, I guess it wouldn't have been a problem
Great location and fantastic staff, so good value for money overall. Breakfast was nice

United KingdomI was on a top bunk and there was a light bulb hanging in front of my face when I was lying down. When it was on it was really bright and uncomfortable. A lampshade or the option to not have this light on at all times would have been helpful!
Great quality for the price

New ZealandMattress was terrible, could feel the springs. Need a curtain on the internal bathroom door window to stop light from the automatic light in the hallway. Room smelt damp and musty all the time.
Good roof top for socialising, nice simple breakfast for a few days (eggs every day and bread).

SwitzerlandThe 4-people room had one window facing the stairs, so the lights when on and off a lot at night, which wasn’t very comfortable. It would have been nice to have curtains.
Really friendly and helpful staff. The 4-people room was comfortable and had big lockers. There was a place to hold our bags while we were in the city.

JapanMy room had a window, which is nice, but it is adjacent to stairs with automatic lighting, meaning that it turns on/off whenever someone passes by. It is rather flushy during the night, and my sleep was regularly disturbed. It would be nice to have a curtain on the window.
Well organized hostel, and most of the tourist attractions are within a walking distance. They also provide welcome drink at the rooftop, which has a nice chilly atmosphere with a night view of the city.

South KoreaJust a little noise? If you are sensitive to noise, it would be a good idea to prepare earplugs.
I think it was good for backpackers to do something. The bus terminal and surrounding markets and tour companies are not far away. However, it is worth considering that it is noisy because it is near the market. Convenience was good. The kindness of responding proactively to anything was worth the noise. One better thing is that you can cook something in the kitchen. I felt that this advantage was different from other places.

AustraliaOn my first stay at Lobo, I was not allowed to enter the rooftop area before check in as I was allowed for my second stay, so there seemed to be some inconsistency between staff members. On my second stay, I was shown to my bed upon check in (a top bunk), but later found this had already been booked for someone else. In my room there were several people who had been booked for the same bed, and what seemed to be at least one bed which no one was in, but which hadn't been cleared and changed since the previous night or earlier. I think this may have been staff dependent, as my first stay didn't seem to have this issue. I'd encourage Lobo to ensure they don't overbook and that all staff are equally trained in policies and procedures. The toilets near the reception and rooftop areas don't have toilet paper nor soap available, which seems essential given that these facilities are nearest a central eating area.
The staff were helpful, offering the ability to store your luggage early or leave it in a secure location until late following check out. I stayed twice at Lobo (before and following my trip to Uyuni), and on the second occasion, was offered to enjoy the rooftop area (with wifi, copious charging ports and several areas to relax) until check in at 2pm. I really enjoyed this area with lots of natural light and plenty of space to share. The reception desk was also great at arranging tours (eg, cholita wrestling) and booking reliable taxi services. The morning breakfast was lovely, with the option of an egg, bread and spreads, juice and hot drinks. Excellent, central location.

FinlandThe door and windows were quite thin and as our room was right next to the stairwell, we could hear a bit too much of what was going on in the hostel. The bathroom was a bit cramped and didn't have anywhere to put down our toiletries.
Good location next to the principal sights of La Paz. Great restaurants and small shops all around and several walking tours just a hop away. The breakfast was nice, although maybe not for you if you want something else than eggs and bread.

DenmarkIt was not possible to have breakfast or a packed breakfast before 7:30 am, also there were no restaurants nearby that were upen at that time. In the evening I could hear loud music and every time someone walked past in the hallway, there were loads of light coming though a window. This made it difficult to sleep when going slightly early to bed.
I had a nice private room and bathroom. The hostel was near some good restaurants. And the staff helped me arrange a tour to the Titicaca lake.
