Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe shower spout didn't work well - which we passed onto the staff.
We loved our stay at Hostal Las Olas! The room and bed was very comfortable and absolutely beautiful. The view was fabulous and we enjoyed the jacuzzi and fireplace when it became cold. The staff were also quite helpful and kitchen handy to use. It was a great place to spend our time acclimatising to the altitude and base to explore the islands.

United KingdomLack of fridge (perhaps this was in the common area, but we didn't check). We didn't necessarily need a fridge, it just meant we didn't purchase any such food or milk. It didn't ruin our stay though.
The uniqueness of the buildings & surrounding grounds. Such an amazing & fun place. Felt special being there. Plus the alpacas roaming the grounds was incredible. Highly recommend!

United KingdomThe option of breakfast would have been good but that is my only comment
Such a wacky, fun hostel with amazing suites. We loved our 2 level suite with comfortable seating area downstairs and the bed upstairs. It was great to have our own kettle and cooking things in case we wanted a meal in. The staff were great!

United StatesLocation. The hotel's advantage is also its disadvantage. It's located on top of the hill with giant stairs leading up to it. The bus transfer dropped me off at the main square and I had to drag my suit case all the way to the base of the hostel, then had to bring it up the giant stairs. Given the altitude, it was not an easy task. In addition, the relentless afternoon sun made the whole arrival and departure experience really exausting.
I think my experience to the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca would not have been complete without staying at the Las Olas. It was magnificent! My room had a glorious view of the lake - the best of all in surrounding area. Notwithstanding the enormous size of the room, everything was spotlessly clean. It had an amazing bathroom with hot shower, well-stocked kitchen with gas-powered oven (I could cook real meals if I wanted to), clean comfortable bed. The design of the room and hotel in general deserves recognition - it's very different and a lot of fun to explore. Friendly staff, held my suitcase after check-out.

United KingdomWe spent two nights here - initially just booked one night but then stayed another night. They were very accommodating, allowing us to check into another room straight after check out from the first room. Both rooms were beautiful and clean with great views and comfortable beds. The hotel property itself is very pretty and only 10 mins walk from the centre. Would definitely recommend.

GermanyThe stairs in the "room" are extremely dangerous (there's even a note warning about this in the room), but we still fell a few times.
We had a wonderful day at this hotel. The room and the view are fabulous. The staff are also super lovely! They know how difficult it is to get up and they give you support via Whatsapp, so you don't have to go up to reception every time. They also have games (uno, jenga) that you can pick up and play in the room, great fun! And the plus was the llamas and chickens in the garden!

Unbelievable hostel! It felt more like a luxury hotel in the suite. The unique architecture and incredible was well worth coming to Copacabana for. The staff go above and beyond. Especially when we had to return unexpectedly after we checked out. The manager showed us into the living room, turned on the heating and offered us hot drinks. The staff also carry your bags to your room! No meals provided but the kitchen equipment in each suite is very well equipped and the restaurant next door offers dinner.

United StatesThe bed sheets and duvet can use an update for sure. It feels like they haven't been changed since the 80s!
What a nice treat between trips. It's only 8 minutes walk (uphill) from the center and the ferry port but far enough to get some peace and rest. The view is priceless and the architecture of the hotel is very special and unique, plus each suite has a different style. Inside the suite there are all basic necessities for kitchen use, hot water, and lots of heating options (including a fireplace in my case) for cold nights. The staff is extremely nice and helpful and very attentive, they accommodated all my needs so quickly and went above and beyond! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
