Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaWe had a double room on the ground floor, which was okay but rather dark and no window (not so uncommon for Bolivia, I know).
Nice courtyard and first floor! Hosts where nice and managed to find a room for us (as I booked for the wrong date). Thanks!

United KingdomKitchen isn't simply open - you must ask them to unlock it. Shower water was sometimes far too hot.
Spacious dorm room with comfortable beds. Clean and tidy. Nice simple breakfast. Kitchen available although you need to ask for it to be unlocked. WC paper and soap. Excellent location near rail and bus stations. Nice courtyard to sit in.

GermanyPersonal wasn't friendly, the USD/BOB-currency conversion fee was completely fantasy and so you pay around 0,50$ more per night. They said it's because the conversion fees differ from other cities in BOL, which is bullshit because the National Central Bank here has a fixed one. Breakfast is very basic and only served between 8-9h. Not all showers and sinks work during the eve/night, but was not communicated to several people I talked to. Beds are quite short.
Good location next to the travel agencies, restaurants etc. It's behind a Pizzaria, you might not find it that easy, look for a tunnel

United StatesThe weekend staff person was not friendly at all. Would have been nice to have fruit at breakfast. Shower was just warm, not hot, almost got cold.
The beds were super comfy, the staff during the week were very kind, cannot beat the location...right in the middle of the main square, next door to restaurants and markets, 5 min walk to tour companies, 10 min walk to bus station.

AustraliaAlthough the hostel advertises payment by card, the machine apparently doesn't work and therefore only cash payment is accepted. While it is great to be able to check in as early as possible, this also means your sleep can be disturbed when others are checked in during your stay. Although there was another whole empty dormitory next to mine of the same size, two people were checked in (at 6am and 8am) on my departure day. I understand keeping all guests to one room to perhaps reduce cleaning obligations, but this meant I may have disturbed their rest when packing and getting ready ahead of my check out time.
The ability to check in as early as you arrive in Uyuni; if you arrived via the night bus or an early flight, you can shower and rest as early as possible. The hostel is in a great, central location (walking distance to the night bus arrival point), there are lots of lovely common areas to relax in and the rooms are of a great size with very comfortable beds. The included breakfast was yummy and generous, featuring eggs, bread and spreads with hot drinks available. There were a good number of toilet and shower facilities which were all well maintained and clean. Wifi worked well. The dining area was open most of the day which made a great place to work remotely.

United KingdomAs with most older buildings your night's sleep is subject to other guests' volume control - but not something the staff can avoid - and it is a charming building!
Great location on a square with plenty of restaurants. We arrived around 6am and were allowed to lock up our bags & hang out in the communal areas. Staff were all friendly & hard-working. The included breakfast was an unexpected bonus :-) Good value for money!

United KingdomThe breakfast was very simple (no options for eggs, only bread, marmalade and butter), and the bed had a hole in it (some wooden boards were missing).
Best location in Uyuni - super central and yet, very peaceful and quiet! The room was big, and the staff was very friendly. The laundry service was also quick and decent. The blankets in the bed were nice and warm. The city had water supply issues, but the hotel explained it to us and offered an alternative solution (to have showers in the shared showers, as the private ones were not working).

United StatesThere could be heating somewhere in the property, but I sleep great with all of the blankets that they provide. My bed had five!
Breakfast was great. They had bread, eggs, fruit, hot cocoa, teas, including coca tea, coffee, water, jam, and butter. wifi was good (it dropped strength a bit in the rooms, but there is another network that I could connect to for better signal.) Bed was great. The Host was outstanding. She gave me some hydrogen peroxide and cotton to help me clean my ears. She helped me get sorted on catching the train (very rare) or bus (which I got) to continue my journey.
