Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe personnel did not speak any English, although that is not uncommon in Bolivia. After check-in, the lady of the hostel had difficulties finding our room, which we found a bit weird. Then the room itself. We booked a double bed, but got three singles. Because of the difficulties with the language, we just accepted it as it was. The beds did not feel very clean and had a funny smell. This has been the first hostel where I used my own sleeping bag instead of the blankets because it did not feel clean. There was also no warm water. The internet was also only available at the reception, which was in another building. So, we were okay sleeping here for one night, but will not come back here for another.
We liked the location the most. It is very close to the city center and the harbor.

Boliviathe shower, if you touch the faucet without turning off the lever, it gives you a little electric shock.
I liked the bed, it is very comfortable and the view to the lake is awsome. There was a lot of space at the room.

GermanyWell the breakfast wasn't as good as a lot of people said. I think it used to be good, now it's just the regular things you get in Bolivia but considering the price I've paid for a privat room with bathroom, I won't complain :)
It's a great location, you close to all the restaurants but to be fair, Copacabana isn't that big. The staff was extremely nice, the beds clean and you have a nice view from the rooftop.

GermanyNot recommended. Worst place ever, dirty, stinky bathroom, broken toilet seat, plugged sinks, freezing cold no heater, no air-condition, no water kettle, no bar, no restaurant. None of the promised equipment was available. Breakfast very poor, no pancakes, no plates, almost nothing left to eat at 09;00 (breakfast-zime is 8-10)you have to ask for them and then they are wet because the poor willing volunteers do not even get a kitchen towel. Run by volunteers only. They were all nice

ColombiaI typically write glowing feedback for the hostels I stay in, but definitely not for this place! There's no common area. When I asked if there was a place to sit other than in my room, she said I could go to the terrace. I wouldn't call it a terrace. It's just a roof. Not a comfortable place to spend time. Nothing up there, not even a place to sit other than on the ground. She gave me a key to a locker, but the key didn't work. The electric shower knob gives you a shock every time you touch it if you want to adjust the water temperature. I think they must know, because the knob is covered in duct tape, as if they (unsuccessfully) attempted to fix it. I arrived at night. She didn't know I was coming, even though I'd received two messages from the hostel through Booking. The first thing I asked was about transportation to Isla del Sol for the next day. She said it leaves at 8:30 or 9, and returns at 5:30, but didn't sound completely confident. Then she said 9. So I figured I'd have about 6 or 7 hours on the island. She didn't tell me that breakfast is in a different hotel until I asked her where breakfast is. The next morning, there was someone else at reception, so I wanted to confirm that the boat departed at 9am, since the woman the night before didn't seem confident. He said yes. I asked how much it costs, and he said it's 50bs instead of 60bs if I buy the ticket at the hostel, so I bought it there. I asked about transportation to Isla de la Luna. He said the boat goes there first, and stops for an hour before going to Isla del Sol. So, I figured I'd still have about 5 hours on the island. I went to the other hostel where they offer the included breakfast. When I got there, it seemed like they didn't know how many guests were staying at the hostel. It took awhile to get a clean plate. There wasn't coffee in the coffee pot. There were empty serving dishes on the table.
Nice to sleep in a 3-bed dorm with comfortable beds that aren't bunkbeds. I liked the yogurt and fruit at breakfast.

CanadaDidn't accept credit card even though booking.com, expedia, and their own door says they do. Was messaged about a pancake breakfast, and their door also says they offer an all you can eat pancake breakfast, which was also untrue. The bathroom toilet leaked brown water from the base of it and made the bathroom smell like sewage constantly. Shower never got close to warm even after 15 minutes of waiting. Seemingly owned a dog who was wonderful, but they kept outside overnight in the rain, even though it was wanting in.

GermanyDuring our wait at the reception we overheard 5 other guests complaining about the bad odor and general dirtiness of the place. At our stay at the other place (Hostal Solistico) we could hardly sleep. The mattresses are awful, the breakfast is a joke and there was no shower curtain and no hot water.
At arrival we got told that they could not find our reservation. After some time we got taken to a room which did not look at all as the room we had booked. Also that room had no private bathroom and no window 😅 After another 20 minutes at reception they told us they are over booked and offered us a room in their hotel place Hostal Solistico.

SwitzerlandWild stray dogs are allowed to enter the hotel and hang out/sleep around the luggages. One of them attacked me, in presence of the staff, when I tried to pick up my backpack. Because the hotel refused to help and answer questions about the dogs when the hospital called them, I have to get a daily rabies shot at a hospital (16 injection), despite being vaccinated. After the event, the staff acted as if nothing happened. This habit of letting wild animals sleep around and between the luggages of the travelers (inside the hotel itself) is dangerous. According to neighboring businesses, it isn't the first time a tourist got attacked by a dog in this hotel.

FranceIt was very cold at night. You have to go up a small hill to reach the hostel (nothing too bad, just a bit tiring with the luggage and the altitude)
The best breakfast we had so far! Big buffet with a huge variety! They also arranged for us the transportation to Isle del Sol at a very good price. The room was spacious and clean. View from the terrace is nice.
