Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Everything was perfect. The location, the staff, the architecture and interior decoration, the view from the roof terrace, the variety at breakfast . We were there during the San Joao festival and were worried about the noise but the double windows perfectly isolated our room from the noise from the celebrations. I highly recommend this hotel.

BrazilStaff could be a bit more friendly and forthcoming. And chat less noisily early in the morning. Also, I found charging for tea bags in the room a bit stingy for such standard and price.
The location is great and the hotel is very charming and pleasant. The room is super - very nicely set out, furnished and equipped. Breakfast excellent and very abundant. Very good choice of wines at the bar.

United StatesExcellent location in Pelourinho. Nice friendly staff. At this hotel you can even drink water from the tap as they have their own filtration system. Small roof with a small pool. Nice place to catch a drink. The rooms are clean. Comfy bed. The windows are sound proofed. A necessity here as this area tends to be very noisy with percussion instruments etc played on the streets Good breakfast.

United KingdomHappy with everything. Although it is a little more expensive than some hotels, it is certainly worth it for the location and lovely accommodation.
Lovely hotel in great location, right in the middle of the historic district and a short walk to the main Tourist sites. Great roof terrace and pool, with views over the harbour. Our room was really nice and the hotel was very clean. Good choice of breakfast options. We had one evening meal there and enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. Just by chance, we were there on a Tuesday evening, when the local drum bands play in the streets for a few hours. There was a lovely cultural vibe and we are glad we got to experience it.

SwitzerlandWe booked a superior room and I guess you automatically get a "family room" where two adults and two kids could sleep. Hence the bed is huge (for 4 people) and fills most of the room. For a couple, however, without kids, it is not great sleeping in a bed that feels 4 meters wide!
The location in the old part of town is simply perfect for any kind of stroll, visit, excursion and city tour. On foot, with or without tourist guide. Breakfast was superb, dinner as well. Staff is nice but hardly speaks anything but Portuguese, except the owner who is French and his partner. The pool and the city/sea view from the 1st floor is breathtaking and the interior of the hotel splendid. So is the restaurant in a lush tropical "winter garden".

Amazing hotel. Wonderful, friendly staff. Main reception person always had great English which was useful for us. Very helpful coordinating arrival, departure and providing advise on sightseeing. The room was massive with great shower and amazing views of the bay. Loved the location as well in Pelourinho- lots of fun things happening directly in downtown which was easy for us to walk to and we took Uber or taxi whenever we needed to visit another neighborhood. Breakfast was included and was delicious - coffee, fruit, bread, yogurt, eggs. Would 100% stay here again.

AustriaIt’s not a real negative point - but the hotel is owned by somebody from France - and the first thing you would expect is a croissant for breakfast. Maybe a suggestion. 🤣 And we had dinner, but the portions then were French size - large plates little to put on. The Moqueca for 2 just served one (and we can compare it with many others we have eaten on our trip. Nevertheless it was delicious 😋
Perfect welcome already at the airport with a private driver waiting and even more perfect At the Hotel with the receptionist speaking English and making you feel welcome. Good feeling and impression from the first moment. Very nice and comfortable room including a nespresso machine. Perfect location only 80 m from the central place in the old city. Very good breakfast served at the table. All in all perfect

BelgiumChoosing to stay in Pelourinho means constant dealing with (usually innocent but sometimes annoying) street vendors, and a deserted neighborhood at night. The hotel seems to cater primarily to foreigners, as reflected in the prices of food, transport, offered tours and accommodation.
Charming hotel in a beautiful house in the historic center, with very friendly service, magnificent views from the swimming pool. Rooms are very quiet despite the noises outside.
