Breakfast was a bit underwhelming and found much better options outside the hostel. There was no control over the air conditioning so the room was very hot. Urine on the towel leading to toilet/shower.

Great location next to the beach. Young girl behind reception was an absolute star and she really helped us being from England. Good value for money if you want somewhere cheap.

Private room booked for 4 night and they gave us one near the renovations where we could smell chemical products, make it impossible to stay in the room. They changed our room on the last floor and during the night was impossible to sleep due to a party, but it was not advertised that it was a party hostel. The day after without any notice, they cut the water so no shower, no water in the sink nor flush. We spoke with the manager who guaranteed it would be fixed the same day. Later at night it was still not resolved and we had to get shower in another room temporarily, and we unfortunately had to accept as only option and promised a refund of 2 nights. The next morning the problem persists and we still had to have shower in the other room, and the issue was fixed during the night. Nobody followed up our case, only when we talked to reception/managers. At the end they refunded only 1 night once we left ipanema beach hostel, and received an email confirming the refund of one night when it was promised a refund of 2. Staff was useless in terms of advicing where to go in Rio, provide recommendations about main tourist attractions. Too busy organising parties. DO YOURSELVES A FAVOUR, BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Bed are awful. No fitted bed sheets are provided, instead you get two normal sheets, which slide around everywhere. The mattress is plastic and poor quality. That plus the lack of fitted sheet leads to sticky moist skin against the plastic of the mattress.

The rooms and the bathroom are too small and dirty. No curtains for the privacy on the bed. Staff is not very helpfull.

I had a private room with a door that wouldnt lock, no working TV, not even soap to wash my hands, no working hot water tap in the shower, no locker or safe; basically the basics werent here exept for a bed and sheets. When I made a comment about it, it took them 24hrs to hand me over a plastic cup with some liquid soap, before they said they didnt have any. I changed to private, because the dorms are even worse, bad smell, a shower thats smaller than a closet etc.

the beds were really uncomfortable- like plastic. and they had parties there every night, but the music was so loud you could not sleep at all (and I were on the second floor). I ended up staying with a friend in the evenings to escape the constant sounds of funk. the common room also wasn’t very inviting. I prefer Mango Tree in Ipanema for sure and will book there next time instead

Really nice hostel on a perfect location. Staff is really really nice and helpful and also in for some fun. Moreover, there’s cleaning every day. Definitely recommend to stay here!

1) the private rooms are at the third floor without elevator 2) it wasn’t clear from the description that this plays is famous for parties 3) the party lasted until 4:00 am with loud music played in the hall, and a huge crowd of people inside and outside the hotel 4) the room was not isolated as they clam I could hear everything a until it ended. Not the best I’d you are not interested into parties.

Nothing stood out as anything other than I expected at any hostel.

this hostel is a 30 second walk to the best beach in Rio. The hostel was clean, great for socializing, and was overall a great experience. The staff were also very accommodating to make sure I had whatever I needed. Emanuel, Daemon, and Luke at the bar were always making sure I was sorted for everything and gave me great recommendations on tours and things to do in the city.

dirty towels sheets room, no room security no box, doors couldnt lock to terrace, excrement on inside bathroom door, unhelpful evening staff carried suitcases three floors, pictures on website from years ago when the place was fresh. no sound insulation from 24/7 party in the lobby. We guess it could be good though if you travel with no packing an plan to be drunk around the clock but there are better galf price hostels for that as well.. Also no help from booking or refund

Rooms are tiiiiiny for 6 beds, AC barely worked (only staff has control over it), loud music till 5/6am even on a Monday and you can hear it upstairs in the rooms.

Location was perfect, lots of bars and restaurants in the area, felt super safe and only a block away from the beach

i was in the double room with en-suite bathroom, on the terrace that is shown on the pictures there are all the A/C motors of the rooms, so extremely noisy. Plus, the windows are thin and don’t close properly so the room was full of little animals, one of which even bit me… very poor facilities

Party hostel. Very loud. Don't expect to sleep through the night. The toilet and shower in your dorm room offer essentially no privacy, and the shower floods.

Party hostel, a few minutes from the beach and just a couple of blocks from the metro. Evening mixer every night to drink caipirinhas and meet the other travelers.

There was loud building work everyday from around 8.30am which made being in the room impossible and left rubble all over the balcony.
