Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCheck in took us about an hour due to a party. SO loud, there was a samba party however it went on til really late in the evening, so many fireworks as well outside and we were unlucky and had a loud snorer in our dorm.
The breakfast we paid extra for was amazing! The building is amazing, our second time staying here. The pools are really pretty. We liked the fact you can see Cristo Redentor too from the location. Staff are all very nice and helpful.

BrazilIt smelled a little bit like old mold. Due to being close to many trees and plants, high humidity might've been the cause.
Staff was friendly and decor was on point. Would love to come back soon.

South AfricaAlthough the rooms are not serviced daily (which is perfectly fine), the toilet paper bins should be removed daily.
The hostel is within walking distance of Christ the Redeemer and a main bus station. It’s nestled in a forest and has 3 pools. The private rooms are small but have everything you need.

United KingdomThe location is a little far out from the rest of the city but the quality of the hostel makes up for this. Service in the restaurant could be a little more attentive.
Such a beautiful hostel, and absolutely huge! The amount of amenities here really is impressive. The rooms and beds are very comfortable - the AC is great. The staff were really great, they took in my bag delivered from the airport with no issues and informed me when it arrived. Jonathan especially was excellent :)

Bonaire St Eustatius and SabaNot super important, but some art in the room would make the spacious white rooms a little more appealing :) There is no laundry provided at the hostel. You can however find one 15 min walking distance.
We had a private room which was very spacious, huge comfy bed, great shower. The breakfast is amazing! Bar is nice and most evenings they had live music which was really good! Helpful they have lockers. Our room was a little plain, no art on the wall like other rooms. That would have been a bonus. Staff is super kind but its handy to learn some Portugees sentences beforehand or write some down since majority doesn’t speak English. Altho they really try their best with translation apps etc. We also liked the location since it was close to the Christus statue and not to far from botanical garden en nature park. For supermarket, bar, restaurants, you have to walk around 15 min. There’s also a place for laundry there. If you follow that street down you’ll find most things you need. We were at some point warned by local people when we went into a sketchier part, but for the most part if you follow that one way you will be fine. Overal great value for how cheap this hostel is. We would definitely recommend and return if ever in Rio again!

Great property in a great location for visiting Christ the Redeemer and the little train sets off just around the corner from Jo & Joe Breakfast is very good only problem is that the curtains how they are arranged in each room they aren’t clean and the staff don’t seem to understand much English or my Portuguese is very bad anyway all good and a very relaxed place to arrive at plus they have a sign in the patio which states that Walt Disney planted this tree when he visited Rio !! Maybe they are taking the Mickey but good story

United StatesCheck in was confusing because the inexperienced staff person forgot to give me bed sheets and a pillowcase and told me which room to go to. The signage to the room is unclear since the property is huge so it's easy to get lost. I didn't know which bed to take because I was not given bed sheets. I had to return to the reception to understand wherr to go and which bed to take. The property is beautifully surrounded by trees and vegetation so expect mosquitoes during Twilight time in open rooms. Also while there is an on-site restaurant, there aren't many other restaurant options nearby.
After staying near Copacabana & Ipanema for a week, I decided to stay here for one night to relax. If this is your first time in Rio, I wouldn't necessarily stay here because it's isolated far from the beaches. However, if you're looking to just unwind in a place with incredible shared indoor and outdoor common areas, then this is the place. It's got several pools including a heated pool. There's an on-site restaurant. It's a huge expansive property and beautifully arranged. It's also a good place to stay for a night or two to base yourself to visit Christ Redeemer early in the morning before the crowds arrive. The train up corcovado is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout the property and the dorm beds have privacy curtains. Bus transportation is quite easy to other popular parts of Rio because Cosmo Vehlon bus stop is just down the street. But again this requires 40 minutes in a bus instead of walking if you're staying closer to the beach.
