How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

A little small room for 6ppl. We were 4 at the maximum, so it was ok for me. Little to basic breakfast, and not so much.
I had an amazing welcome! The staff were so nice. Tulio welcomed me and sowed me around, told me about the different things to do! Nice bathroom, and common areas. Easy but good breakfast. It was walking distance from mercado novo y central and prc d liberdade. Nice cooking facilities and super cute dog.

People talked loudly in front of the bedrooms, I understood some people just disrespect others.
whole trip is amazing, special cause Nauana was amazing hostess of the place, my compliments for her. Course the place was cozy, clean in a great neighborhood.

All good.
Nauan and Tulio were very welcoming and gave me lots of information about places to see in Brazil. Breakfast included and the place was clean. Highly recommend.

The third top level bed leaves not much space to the ceiling. The breakfast is rather a snack - an already made sandwich with cheese and ham (no wegetarian options, even when you ask the day before), a fruit and a pack of crackers.
Localisation - close to the Mercado Central, and other most touristic attractions within a walking distance. Nice atmosphere, the staff is super friendly and welcoming!

The owners are verry nice and friendly.Verry nice Location ,clean.I just missed air conditioner and a bed more comfortable but will be back for sure.

One shower had a little electric shock when turning water off and no hand soap in the bathroom.
Very nice hostel close to BH city center and Praca da Liberdade in a safe area. Comfortable, clean and stylish rooms with backyard. We had live music at Friday night. Coffee and small breakfast are served. Washing machine can be rented.

Needed more cozy touches like chairs, sofas, hammocks outside.The natural wood picnic tables are nice but not comfortable for relaxing. Indoor dining area needed.
Squeaky clean and organized. Good wifi. Friendly staff but, surprisingly in a big city hostel, English was a challenge (but that's Brasil). Nice big outdoor seating areas, front and back.

The hole of the locker is way too small to put a normal lock on it. The staff offers me to buy a smaller for 15R but I wasn’t satisfied of this answer since I already have a small lock which was still too big. I stayed in the dorm and the bathroom wasn’t clean daily. One time I needed to grab toilet paper in another bathroom. The breakfast is truly just a snack. Everything is already ready on the table for you but no one ask if you have any allergy or particular diet. You have to pay to get a blanket and a towel.
The staff were super nice. They told me what I could do around. There are a few areas to just chill which is nice.

I had to pay R$10 extra for a blanket (only bedsheet and pillow case are included). No towels provided/offered. Breakfast was white bread with a slice of ham and cheese and very weak coffee. Sandwiches were readied and set on top of the coffee cups. Would have preferred at least the option to make my own sandwich as I don't eat ham and a second slice of cheese would be appreciated. They also had put in the description that reception is 24h which it isn't. I warned beforehand that I'd arrive only after 11pm and messaged to confirm if it would indeed be alright to book and they confirmed it was fine and my check-in time. When I arrived, the receptionist seemed to have just woken up and although he was nice he made snarky remarks regarding my late night arrival, bed wasn't ready and no towels were offered. After receiving such a condescending answer from the proprietor, proud of mere 20 reviews that put him at 9.8 was a true shock as I seriously just offered criticism regarding the transparency of what is advertised on Booking. This is something I haven't experienced in my 6y of traveling and staying in hostels all over the world. I was recommended by new acquaintances in Ouro Preto to stay at BR Hostel instead for my 2nd night in Belo Horizonte!
Rooms/bathroom were very well planned and organized as well as the common areas. Clean and well-kept.
